Pennsic = No / Dragon Con = More than likely

If you haven't heard me mention it already, valdemar1066 and I will definitely not be going to Pennsic this year. No last minute surprise drive-by. (We mean it this time - really.) We're staying home and doing boring stuff like working and sleeping and less boring stuff like (it could happen) working on the house and the yard and other neglected projects....

...and enjoying our phat new pool. This is actually pool number two. Pool number one was too shallow (3' as opposed to 4' deep), and because it was set up several times (the ground that you're setting it up on really needs to be level and not have gravel underneath, particularly if you end up having to set it up several times), it got a puncture that we have yet to locate and ended up even more shallow and sad looking. So we searched around until we found the one that we wanted in the first place (18' x 4' deep), then took some time leveling the ground, then dumped nearly a ton of sand on the spot so that the bottom is nice and cushy. Now it's perfect. And just in time too, the local weather being in the high 90's and the heat index over 100 degrees. So over the next few weeks we'll raise a beer or a margarita or six in the general direction of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania while we plan The Inevitable White Trash Pool Party (which wouldn't be the same without achbarr!) and be thankful that we're sitting this War out. Have fun, y'all!

Note to soucyn: I haven't forgotten about the pavilion ring and the pennons. I'll be dropping them off tomorrow night...If you don't hear from me by 7-ish, feel free to call me up and remind me!

Barring unexpected catastrophe, we will be going to Dragon Con. So instead of a week of camping with over 10,000 Medieval/Renaissance loonies in early August, we'll be spending half a week in air condioned hotels with over 20,000 SciFi loonies over Labour Day weekend. This will be our 2nd year at Dragon Con and we're really looking forward to it, especially since a bunch of our friends from the Asheville Renfaire will be there. It'll be nice to go to an event where all we'll need to bring is clothes and maybe a costume or two. :-D

sca, frivolity
