Scraping up some whoopass

Now that I finally have some breathing room at work, it's been horribly tempting to flop back and put my feet up. I've earned it, right? The trouble is that I'd waste that hard-fought free time to wallow in the internets. Watch the idiot box. Sleep. I don't want to wake up on Monday with nothing accomplished.

Most of my good intentions for the past week fell by the wayside. However, I've maintained my baseline hooping regime for nearly five weeks and counting, and I haven't gained back any of the weight I've lost since Christmas. Hot flashes are back, but I'm finallly starting to get enough sleep to function. Time to kick the mojo into gear. Maybe not so much kick as drag...or scrape. Whatever.

I've set the bar low this weekend, but it's stuff that will impact my Zen for the rest of the week. Today it's getting the Christmas stuff packed away, culling the wardrobe, packing up the rejects for the next swap night, vacuuming, ironing, cleaning out the fridge and microwave. And getting back to posting after this week's hiaitus. This entry is mainly about psyching myself up for action.

Tomorrow I'll be working downtown. If I stay focused, I should be able to knock out my huge pile of adjustments, billing setup, new project setup and backlog - just two! Then I can spend the rest of the work week on my annual review, testing the accounting system and archiving. This will clear the decks for my next trip to DC.

I've got a fair number of events to look forward to. Highlights include Durham's Mardi Gras and the probable business trip to DC in February, another Durham goth event, The Bowie Ball and seeing The Church and possibly Die Antwoord in March, and New Orleans in mid-April.

We visited New Orleans for the first time in May. I was heavier than I'd been in a good while. None of my good clothes fit. We did a lot of walking and we saw a lot, but I think the experience will be better minus about ten pounds, plus some muscle tone and a decent haircut. Plus we're going in April, so possibly not so sticky this time. Need to poll the Facebook Brain Trust on stuff to do that doesn't involve food.
