Return of the Gavin / Getting stuff done

Mar 06, 2010 13:13

Gavin has finished his last test before Spring Break and is packing his stuff as we speak to move back in with us for possibly a year.  Between a full rack of classes and some disasterous transitions on the job front, the idea is that he stays here and saves up some cash until he starts at UNC.

The gym continues to dick him around on his schedule, making promises about giving him more hours, then he finds out he has half the classes they promised.  They don't tell him - he finds out by looking at the schedule.  Nice.  So he's been looking for other spots in the meantime.  Durham Tech are interested in having him teach some martial arts / self defense / conditioning courses, and he's checking for openings at other gyms and looking to pick up some private training gigs as well.

So I lose my home office, but the master bedroom has plenty big for my desk and ski machine.  There's also a lot of room in this place that we're not fully using, plus we've got a bunch of stuff that we're not using that we've been meaning to give away or donate for ages, so the move has been a good kick in the pants.  His room's ready for him to move in, space has been cleared out in the garage and desk and ski machine have been set up.  Still have some stuff to shuffle to better storage tubs and a few more things to weed out.

Another plus is that we'll have a live-in nutritionist, cook, grocery shopper and personal trainer.  He's actually looking forward to that.  I see some lectures in our future, but I'm willing to step up.

Next on the to-do list is finally fininshing painting the bedroom doors.  Getting started is the hardest part.  If this gets me into full-on painting mode, I might actually get started on Connor's room, which doubles as a guest bedroom when he's not staying over, and sorely needs a complete overhaul.
