All right, another flood come and gone. Better? Worse? Doesn't matter. But I'm gonna go out on a limb here and drop my earlier suggestion about the lot of us trying to watch our backs -- Only rather than give you the idea and let some of you piss and moan while a few say it's a good idea, I'm just going to propose it, as is, and let the people who are interested volunteer and organize.

What I initially proposed was a system of accountability, for people interested in joining. You come together under me so I can keep records for everyone, and during floods, you have one person that you check on. If you're affected and they're not, it's their job to make sure you don't embarrass yourself, within reason, and vice versa. And if you're both affected, it might be to your advantages to continue keeping an eye on one another. If you're focused on keeping someone else out of trouble, you'll focus a lot less on suffering.
If you are interested in doing this, you may comment here, and we'll find someone to pair with you if you have no one in mind already. You might want someone you know and trust well, and you might also find it a lot less awkward if it's someone you don't know very well at all. [shrug] Doesn't matter. Everybody does their part, and I'll do my best to accommodate everyone. I will keep an updated list, so if something goes wrong, it will be known who to check first.
