I dare say this may be my first happy entry in a long time.

Tonight I went out with this great girl I met no fewer than two months ago at the last big party we threw in this apartment. In the two months in between, we talked once, sent a few emails, and had no other contact. To be honest, I thought I was being blown off. But today she came down to NYC around 5:30. We saw the tree at Rockefeller Center, sat for coffee in the Bryant Park, had dinner in the basement of this excellent restaurant called Spice, and in the end, I offered to drive her home (to Greenwich, CT), and she said yes. She's my age for a change (roughly ... 26), she's intelligent and very motivated, and she is absolutely gorgeous. She's offered to teach me snowboarding if I teach her Spanish, and told me to email her sometime soon.

I am very happy, and having the same trouble going to bed I did when I was five and waiting for Santa Claus. I want to email her and thank her for a great time (country chivalry at its best), but have no idea when, or what is too cheesy of a thing to write, and so on.

Any advice? I've screwed enough of these things up that I no longer trust my best instinct (which is to email her tomorrow, or about 12 hours since I last saw her, and just say I had a good time and would like to hear back from her).

All I know is I just sat on the roof and took in the city and sang a few songs aloud and generally acted like some idiot. Man, I hope to see her again soon.
