Summary: Colonel Yabu Kota was madly inlove with his wife until she died, when a thief broke into their house and killed her while protecting their children. He swore to seek justice and lock in jail, each and every thief he could catch. Arioka Daiki is a notorious and famous robber, thief and pickpocket raised in the streets of London but was taken by Ueda Tatsuya and groomed her, trained her to be a refined woman and let her work as a governess. As the saying ``old habits die hard,`` she was caught by Tatsuya stealing a woman`s purse and as punishment, she was sent to the countryside to be the governess of Colonel Yabu Kota`s children.
``Lord Kaname!`` Lady Daiki was delighted to see the elder man.
``My lady.``
``Kota`s still preparing. I`ll take you to his study.``
``Yes, please.``
A servant immediately followed them with a tray of wine for the men. Lord Kaname held Daiki`s arms to support her walking for she`s already on her seventh-month. The man also helped her to sit down on the couch.
``You`re spoiling my wife, Lieutenant General.``
``Kota.`` The man chuckled. `` I don`t see anything wrong with it. She`s a beauty.``
``And she`s mine so back off!``
``Kota. Are you suppose to speak to your superior like that?``
``It`s alright, my lady. Kota is afterall, my brother-in-law.``
``Brother-in-law?!``
``Yes. Lieutenant General is Aki`s brother.``
``Whoah! I didn`t know that!``
``Kota. Have you been keeping secrets from your wife?!``
``It`s alright, my lord. I know Kota loves me.``
``Of course.`` Kota leaned down to kiss her and her bulging tummy.
``I`ll leave you two, gentlemen. I`ll excuse myself, Lord Kaname.``
``Sure my lady.`` Kaname kissed her.
``I`ll take you to the balcony.``
``Nah. Just help me up. I`m going to check on Ryutaro`s studies.``
``Why don`t you just rest? Yuta is there with him.``
``No way. Yuta stand no chance over your smart-ass son.``
Kota shook his head as he watched his wife`s retreating back.
``Hmm. Maybe I should visit Lady Tatsuya sometimes and see if she has more beauty like her.``
``Brother-in-law, you haven`t found a woman of your choice yet?``
``Nah. I don`t think I`m still going to get married.``
``That`s why you keep snogging my wife.``
``Are you jealous?``
``Shut up!``
``Haha! I`m just fond of the lady. She reminds me of my sister.``
``In some ways, yes. She is like Aki.``
``I hope you don`t mix one for the other.``
``I don`t.Daiki is different. By the way, the reason I called you here Lieutenant. I need your help on something.``
``I`m listening.``
``Daiki. Daiki.`` Kota lightly tapped her shoulder.
``Hmm.Kota?``
``Love, why are you here?``
``I was reading and I fell asleep.Are--this is Ryutaro`s blanket.``
``He must have put it on you when you fell asleep.``
``Such as sweet kid. What time is it?``
``It`s almost midnight. You should have been sleeping in the room.``
``It`s alright. I wanted to wait for you anyway.``
``Wife. You need to be more comfortable.Come on, I`ll carry you.`` Before Daiki could protest, her husband picked her up and carried her to their room.
``Kota. I want warm milk. Can you get me?``
``No problem.``
Daiki`s sleeping soundly while Kota gently played on her locks. He carefully wrapped his hand around her before he fell into slumber.
``How sweet Kota. Of everything you can give your wife, you gave her a gun?!`` Kei rounded at Kota.
``Well, this one is licensed and---``
``That`s not my point! She`s a woman and pregnant and you gave her a gun!``
``Well, she needs to protect herself and she`s good at using guns anyway.``
``Ahhh, Kota please just go. We`ll take care of your wife.`` Lady Kei was obviously irritated of her friend.
``But, I`ll be away for days and look at her! She`s big and pregnant.I`m worried!``
``Then you should never have got her pregnant you moron!``
``Kei!``
``Fine!``
``Don`t worry Colonel, we`ll make sure to keep the lady safe.``
``Thank you, my lady.`` Kota bowed to Lady Keito.
``Daiki!`` Kota left the women while Kei shook her head. She went back to nursing her daughter when Hikaru approached Lady Keito.
``My lady. Please take care of yourself, alright?``
``Y-Yes, my lord. You too, please.`` Lady Keito had her eyes on the ground, unable to face Hikaru.
``My lady, are you alright?``
``Y-Yes. I`m..I`m just worried---`` She stopped when Hikaru gently kissed her.
``I`ll be fine. It will just be for a few days. I promise.``
``L-Lord Hikaru...`` The man gave the lady a gentle hug before he went out to wait for the colonel.
``That`s right. God job Ryu!`` Lady Daiki gently clapped her hands to see that Ryu perfectly answered all the questions she gave him.
``You`re so smart, dear. I`m sure you didn`t get from your stupid father.``
``That`s right because I got it from grandpa!``
``Your grandpa?``
``Yes. Granda is famous because he had a patent to use opium in medicine and for opium to be solely in the hands of physicians and not pharmacists.``
``Hmm. I heard about that years ago. Some pharmacists incorrectly dispensed opium to the public and caused addiction in most people that`s why they gave the right to physicians instead.``
``That`s why I`m going to be like grandpa! I`m going to be a physician too.``
``Woaaah! That`s great!``
``Mama, you`re smart too and you`re beautiful but how did you end up being a thief?`` The little boy looked at her curiously.
``Ryu!`` Yuto arrived just in time and heard his brother. ``Don`t talk to mama like that!``
``It`s alright, Yuto.``
Daiki sighed. They are her children now and she loves them. Besides, Ryutaro is a smart boy.
``It`s a long story dear but if my father`s alive, he would be delighted. He was a physician too.``
``He was?`` Ryutaro`s eyes went wide.
``Yes. He was a good man, but he died when I was very young. He died with my mother and older brother.``
``Tell me about your brother mama.``
``Daisuke-niichan was a smart-asshole like you.`` She pinched Ryutaro`s nose. ``He always scolded me for being a tomboy. But he was always with father and he wanted to be a doctor, too.``
``What about you, mama? What did you want to be?``
``Well, I was pretty stupid, I was always playing and didn`t think about that. I`ve never thought of losing them early thus it was very hard for me to live on my own when they left me. I had to steal or I won`t eat. When I was sick, I had to stay in a dark alley to avoid being seen by bad people and I would cry and call them.`` Daiki swallowed painfully at the memory but the boy is good at taking off her attention on the matter.
``Maybe, you really are an idiot. You married papa afterall.``
``Ryu!`` Yuto whacked his brother. Daiki just laughed.
``Ryutaro, are you saying that Lady Aki`s an idiot too for marrying your papa?``
``Huh?Well...well..papa didn`t try to kill mama!`` Daiki was taken aback at the boy`s answer. He`s right on the spot.
``Boys, do you hate your papa for trying to kill me?`` She was not sure if it was appropriate to ask them but, she`s thankful that the kids were there.
``Yes!`` Ryosuke and Yuri also joined the conversation.
``Eavesdropping is rude, you know.`` Yuto shot at his sisters.
``Even if papa hates thieves, he should never have done that!``
``Children, your papa was driven by hatred and it`s ugly. I don`t want any of you to bear grudges over people who hurt you. Do you understand?``
``Yes, mama.``
Daiki winced when the baby kicked. ``Mama!``
``It`s alright. Your baby sister or brother is just playing.``
``Doesn`t he get bored playing alone inside her tummy?`` Yuri whispered at Yuto.
``I don`t know.``
Daiki was in the living room with the children when a servant came to them.
``My lady, a guest had arrived.``
``A guest?`` Yuri got up from lying on her lap and Daiki slowly got up.
``Yes, my lady. Well, it is Lord Yabu.``
``Lord Yabu?`` She was surprised when Ryosuke cling to her.
The children were also tensed except for Ryutaro who smiled widely, but Ryosuke paled and she started shaking like hell.
``Nee-chan?`` Yuri noticed her sister.
``Ryosuke, are you alright?`` Daiki also noticed the girl`s cold hand.
``I don`t..I don`t want to see him.`` Yuto held his sister`s shoulders.
``Calm down.`` Yuto whispered to her ears.
``Yuto he`s back..he`s back---`` She almost passed out when the elder man entered the living room.
``Children. I missed you!``
``Grandpa!`` Ryutaro ran to the man.
The man was obviously delighted to see the child. Daiki felt something awful and scary about the man especially that Ryosuke was never that scared before.
``Lord Kaname. The traitor was found, I had our men track his every move.``
``Good job. Where is he now?``
``The last reports said that he travels around England and using different names but it seems that he has made a plan to contact his family.``
``He`s been in England for quite some time and he only contacts them now?``
``Yes.``
``He`s going to take shelter using their position.``
``Yes.``
Both men looked at the door when they heard a knock.
``Lord Kaname, may I come in?``
``Come in.``
``The latest report, my Lord. It`s bad news, Lord Yabu is back with his family.``
``What?! Shit! Kota is away on a mission!``
``Lord Kaname, what should we do? If he`s back with his family, the mistress will be in-danger.``
``That will happen only if he recognizes her.But we better be careful. ``
``I`ll send our trusted man to enter the manor and look after the mistress. I`ll also alert some of our trusted servants in the manor to check on the children. ``
``I don`t want any failure this time, you understand?!`` Kaname punched his table and the men trembled in fear.
``I don`t want Daiki to end up dead! Do you hear?!``
``Forgive me my lord. It was my due to my carelessness that mistress Aki died. I`ll make sure not to fail this time.``
``Make sure he`ll not get his hands on my sister again!``
``Yes, my lord.``
``I`ll make you pay for killing my entire family, you scum.``
**NOTE: I can finally see that the story is about to end.I can`t believe I made it this long. wheew!
