Summary: Colonel Yabu Kota was madly inlove with his wife until she died, when a thief broke into their house and killed her while protecting their children. He swore to seek justice and lock in jail, each and every thief he could catch. Arioka Daiki is a notorious and famous robber, thief and pickpocket raised in the streets of London but was taken by Ueda Tatsuya and groomed her, trained her to be a refined woman and let her work as a governess. As the saying ``old habits die hard,`` she was caught by Tatsuya stealing a woman`s purse and as punishment, she was sent to the countryside to be the governess of Colonel Yabu Kota`s children.
``Colonel, we have leads about the trades that has been circulating around.``
``What about it?``
Yuya read the intelligence report.
``Several years ago, Shimizu Natsu a renowned physician made contact with traders of opium and used them for medicine. In an unfortunate turn of events, he stumbled upon more information and danger that led to his and his family`s death.``
``Shimizu? Daiki`s father?``
``Yes, colonel.`` They both looked when Hikaru knocked and opened the door.
``Major Yaotome Hikaru, reporting for duty sir.`` Kota nodded at him.
``Colonel, I`ve checked further into Lady Daiki`s information.``
``When the house of Shimizu was burned down, the only daughter escaped together with a woman.``
``The nanny.`` Kota deduced and Hikaru nodded.
``The woman was entrusted with a small book containing names of the involved parties to be given to a certain officer and to let the officer take Lady Daiki to safety. The woman was killed during the escape and it was believed that her mistress had it with her.``
``But my wife doesn`t know anything about a book.``
``Or, she didn`t know that she had it with her.`` Yuya added.
``Continue, Hikaru.``
``Lady Daiki was shot when she tried to escape the appointed killers.``
``Which explained her scar on her right chest.``
``How did she escape again?``
``Her killer was also killed and the girl was taken to safety.``
``It means that the book was taken from her.``
``Right.``
``Colonel, it means that someone in the headquarters that time already got the book.``
``That is a possibility, Yuya.``
Kota walked back and forth in his office.
``If they got the book, either it fell on the wrong hands and didn`t expose the trades or the book didn`t make it to the officer but it was taken by somebody else.``
``My guess, it was the one who saved the lady. Whoever he is, he took the book and still have it with him.`` Hikaru ended.
``Kota, did you ever wonder how a notorious thief like your wife was never caught?``
The colonel was surprised when he realized that he glared at his friend for calling Daiki a thief.
``Don`t call her a thief!``
``Woow! Alright, I`m sorry!``
``Tell me then.``
``Someone in the headquarters is protecting her Kota. Someone who knows her real identity and protecting her. It might be the officer that was mentioned on the report.``
``You`re right Yuya. Also, I have a feeling that while a high-ranking official is protecting her, another party is using her as bait to lure out the thief who stole the book. They are keeing a close watch over the lady and...your family Kota.``
``Hikaru, how can you say that it`s a high-ranking official?``
``Lieutenant my friend, are you an idiot?``
``Oi!``
``When Lady Daiki was barely 7 or 8 years old, the man was already an official. How many years has it been?``
``The officer is now a high ranking official that`s why he can pull strings to keep Lady Daiki`s record confidential and protect her. The traitor is also a high-ranking official mobilizing and using our people for their greedy acts.``
``One more thing, Kota. The one who saved the lady that time...was a deserter. He was a previous junior officer who resigned.``
``Resigned? ``
``Yes and after he saved the lady he fled and left England.``
``Then that person is back.``
Hikaru and Yuya looked at Kota.
``They knew, the man is back that`s why they abducted her and the children. To drop a false trail for the man. Because, of the abduction, Daiki was put into spotlight causing the authorities to dig on her information. That`s why the records about her being a thief surfaced all of a sudden.``
``But he hasn`t shown up yet, Kota.``
``He`s bidding his time. It`s just a matter of time. The headquarters is also a chaos, I can feel it. They`re desperate.They even used thieves to their advantage to lure out the man.``
``We have to get to him first, then.``
``Wait, isn`t Lady Daiki with you today?`` Yuya shot at Kota.
``Yes, she went to her Gynecologist to...shit! Daiki!`` Kota took his coat and ran leaving the two idiots.
``I think our friend is finally getting into his senses.`` Hikaru snickered.
``He even yelled at me for calling his wife a thief! Can you imagine that?!`` Yuya complained.
Daiki. Daiki.
Kota ran to get to the hospital. Daiki might be in danger again considering that she`s being used as a bait for those scum.
Lady Daiki was surprised to see her husband running towards her.
``Why are you here?``
``I..I.. want to... go with you.`` He was catching his breath and thankful that he made it in time before Daiki get inside the doctor`s office. He pulled her into a tight embrace.
``L-Let me go, please. Don`t make a scene here.`` His wife pushed him away.
Kota didn`t leave but he accompanied her to have the baby checked. Her stomach is noticeable at four months.Four months since he almost killed her. He grabbed her shaking and cold hands to give her warmth. Daiki tried to pull her hand but he didn`t let go.
``Just don`t stress yourself out, my lady. You are delicate with your pregnancy. We don`t want any complications, right?``
``Come back after four weeks so we can have you and the baby checked again.``
``Thank you doctor.`` Kota never let go of her hand until they got out of the hosptal.
``What are you playing at, colonel?!``
``I`m hungry, wife. Let`s eat.``
``I`m not hungry. I`m going home.``
``Yes, you are hungry and the baby is hungry too. Come on, let`s look for a good restaurant.``
``Shouldn`t you be going back to the headquarters?``
``I`m done for the day. Let`s walk around. Let`s eat then we can go home.``
Lady Daiki looked away.
``Come in.`` Kota turned the knob but he furrowed when the room was dark.
``Daiki?``
The lady turned on the lamp shade and Kota stepped back to see that his wife is holding a pistol and pointed at him.``
``What`s that for?``
``I don`t want you coming to my room and kill me.``
``I don`t have a gun, wife.``
``You didn`t need a gun to kill me last time, Kota.``
``I know.I`m..I`m sorry.``
``Why are you here?``
``Nothing. I just want to check on you. May I come in?`` Daiki nodded.
``May I come closer?`` The woman nodded again.
``Thank you.`` Kota continued to walk closer until he reached her with her gun pointed at him.
``I won`t do anything, I promise. Please, put it down.``
Kota was hurt to see her lack of trust in him. She`s still scared that her husband might strangle her anytime.
``I won`t hurt you, Daiki.`` She contemplated before she put down the gun.
Daiki flinched when her husband`s warm hand touched her cheek and caressed her. Kota moved a bit to get closer.
The next thing she knew, Kota was kissing her forehead down to her eyes, cheek and jaw.
``K-Kota..``
``I missed you, Daiki.``
The woman sobbed and Kota caught her. He embraced the fragile woman on the bed.
``I`m sorry. I`m sorry for everything. I almost killed you and our child. I`m sorry Daiki.``
He leaned down and buried his face on the crook of her neck as he cried. He cried that he almost killed the woman that he loves. He almost did something that he might have regretted his entire life.
He cling on to her not wanting to let go.
``Give me a chance, Daiki. I`ll take care of you and our child. Please don`t go. Don`t leave me and the children.``
``I am what you hate the most, Kota.``
``I will change, for you. I will accept everything about you. Please give me a chance.``
``Do you love me?``
``I do. I love you. I love you very much and I don`t...want..to..lose..you and our child. I don`t want!``
Kota cried like a child and begged his wife to accept him again.
``Please, Daiki.``
``I love you too, Kota. Always. So please stop this.`` She held her husband`s face and kissed him. Kota wrapped his arms around her and kissed her back.
``I..missed..you, Daiki.`` He kissed down her neck making her moan in pleasure.
Daiki tugged on his shirt until she removed it. She gently ran her hands on his chest.
``D-Daiki, the baby.``
``You promised not to hurt us, right?.`` Kota nodded and leaned down gently to capture his wife`s lips. He missed her. God, he missed her.
Just as Kota promised. They made love with Kota being the most gentle man possible.
