When I was reading the Bible earlier this week this in Isaiah struck me...
"...For the breath of the ruthless
is like a storm driving against a wall
and like the heat of the desert. ..." Isaiah 25:4-5(NIV)
I keep being tempted to be ruthless. Now, there's in games, of course, like when you find a rule or trait that's completely exploitable (in a way, that you're sure the designers never intended). But then there's real life, the temptation to stoop a little lower to get what you think you deserve, to the point where you really don't deserve it anymore. In games it's not much of a problem for me, maybe from a sense of fair play, or maybe because I just like a challenge. The real life one, is a lot worse.
I guess it is easier for people to be ruthless when they despair for any other way. Doesn't make it right.
Maybe they are kinda similiar, in games, when I think I'm winning I tend to be really lax, not doing even perfectly fair things, just to make it more interesting. When it gets hard, I at least wind up trying more.
I think thinking this over has helped.
Heh, and when writing this, I had another verse come to mind... Psalm 37:8 with "...do not fret-it leads only to evil. "
I guess that about sums it up.
