Easter and Spring

Apr 14, 2009 15:17

I had a long Easter weekend. I took Thursday off and my company had Good Friday off as a holiday. It was so good to just lounge around and do whatever I wanted. I have been reading a lot lately!! I'll get into these fits of reading and just read one book straight through and then start on another. I almost amaze myself sometimes.

I finished reading:
Out of Captivity - Mark Gonsalves, Keith Stansell and Tom Howes (had to take some time to decompress after this one)
The Last Juror - John Grisham (meh... don't buy it...get it from the library)
Until They Bring the Streetcars back - Stanley Gordon West (another library book)
Life of Pi - Yann Martel (interesting concepts to think about)
The Secret Life of Bees - Sue Monk Kidd (3 out of 5 stars)
Freakonomics - Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner (very interesting)

Going to read:
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - Annie Barrows (reading this for bookclub at work)
Straight Man - Richard Russo (this one came highly recommended by my friend's fiance)
The Good Earth - Pearl S Buck (read this one in HS but wanted to read it again)

So the weekend was nice and long and relaxing. I didn't even touch my work email once! Ha, take that 100 emails a day!

Because the weather was so nice we went to two zoos this weekend to walk around. One is about 30 minutes away from our house and it's the more upscale, expensive state zoo. Then another day we went to the one that's in our city and it's free. Both days were enjoyable because we enjoyed such nice weather...nice meaning in the 50's and sunny(ish).

I love spring! It's my favorite season. We've been noticing all sorts of green buds growing in our gardens both in the back and in the front. It's so fun to see what's going to pop up. Last fall, before the freeze, Brian planted a bunch of tulips and other flowers around the house and now we're starting to see the little green buds sprout up everywhere. The fun part is we don't know what's going to pop up where because we didn't keep track. But it really is fun to see what's going to grow. Hope your spring is as fun and full of new growth as ours is.
