I noticed that sometimes I seem to forget how to count. In particular, when exercising, I can see why it's generally better to use a clock or a timer, rather than counting seconds off myself.
I'll be sitting there, my noodle-arms quivering as they struggle to hold my chicken-legs into a stretched position, trying to count off about 20 seconds. "One thousand one, one thousand two," counts my brain. My leg then sends along signals indicating that the stretch is still being maintained, and my brain's count starts going more like "onethousandthree-onethousandfour-this is hard-wait where am I up to?"
"One-thousand-four-teen," supplies my legs helpfully.
"Onethousandfourteen-onethousandfifteen. . . uh?" continues the brain, and soon after, ta-da! I'm done.
It should be no surprise that I'm so inflexible I can't even touch my toes.
