Some randomness, as of 2008-07-14 13:37 (heh).
I found that you can block-copy using
screen, (like Ctrl+V does in vim). After you start a copy (Ctrl+a, '[', then Enter to mark the start of the block), you press 'c' to mark the left-most edge of the block, and move the cursor a bit, then 'C' to mark the right-most edge, and you can select a rectangular block to copy. This is my "new thing learned" for today.
I can now play Guitar Hero 3 on hard mode. By "play" I mean "not fail within 20 seconds of starting a song". Also, the phrase "by the skin of my teeth" is appropriate here, as I three-star my way through each song. But at least I'm getting used to hitting the orange button. Crazy solos still kill me, and I still can't finish the Dragonforce song on medium.
Video of a 9yr old playing the aforementioned song on expert.
Also, while I'm linking youtube things..
Video of various people showing off a 540 degree kick. That is to say, they launch themselves and in the process of spinning 540 degrees, throw out several kicks. Wish I could do that.
Have watched up to the end of season two of Battlestar Galactica. Obviously I liked season one enough to continue onto season two, so I won't bother speaking more on that.
Season two was also good, but things were becoming really quite tense, and.. angsty. Fortunately it didn't get quite so bad that I stopped watching, but it really did make me want to slap a few characters at various points.
I missed the drum-beat flashesl-of-sneakpeeks at the beginning of each episode in season two. I was glad when it came back around episode five. Even though I tend to avert my eyes during it, to avoid spoiling anything in the episode, I still kinda liked it. (c:
Sad to see the Blackbird had such a short life.
I feel bad about the vicious glee I felt in seeing the Pegasus getting hammered after they jumped into the cyclon trap. I felt sorry for the commander, after the fact.
Heh, Admiral Adama has gone back to sporting what I've seen referred to as the "Adamastache".
I won't bother putting any of my speculation on things up, or my thoughts that begin with "What happened to X?" mainly because of things that may or may not be revealed in later episodes I am yet to watch. I know what it's like to listen to someone pondering out loud about something in a tv show/movie, while you stand there and think "huh. X is already dead/Y is shown later on/etc.." and not sure how to respond without spoiling anything. (c:
After all, being caught-up with a series is the best way to immunize oneself against accidental spoilers.
I'm taking a short self-enforced break before I start season three. At least a day, or so. (c: However long it takes to acquire higher resolution versions. The poor quality season two episodes started getting annoying to watch; the compression didn't seem to handle the dark-lit scenes very well.
