I find that I say, very often, "I should get around to watching/reading ". There are so many movies, TV shows and books that I know would interest me, or that are at least on "must-see/read" lists. Having cancelled my WoW account after realising I've only been using it as a glorified chat client for the past few months, it looks like I've got the time to do stuff. (c:
First off: Firefly. Sadly, I hadn't even heard of it until about 2005 when the movie Serenity came out. I watched that, and thought "Wow, that was cool. I really liked those characters." But I didn't end up watching the TV series because.. well I'd known it had been sadly truncated, and I'd already watched the movie, which I knew came After.
Well, I finally got around to watching it and wonder why I hadn't before. It was an amazingly well-crafted, short series. I won't bother going on about it in too much detail since no doubt it's soooo six-years-ago to everyone else, but suffice to say I really liked it. I watched them all over the course of this weekend, finishing off by re-watching Serenity again. Episode 8 ("Out of Gas") in particular blew me away. It had the feeling of awesomeness that Heroes' "Company Man" episode did, except that Heroes started exhibiting varying amounts of 'meh' after that episode, while Firefly just kept on hitting hard from then on up until 14. And the Serenity movie which I'd originally thought of as "kinda cool" obviously meant more when watching it again after watching the series.
Ah well, I'm really glad I've done that, now. Sad that's the end, but glad to have finally experienced it. (c:
Next up on my list, I have acquired about three-and-a-half seasons of Battlestar Galactica.
