When I started jotting down my thoughts sometime last spring (ish?), I never actually intended to, you know, actually update regularly and continuously. At least, that's what I'm telling myself right now in an attempt to rationalize my multi-week lack of posts. (I'm really, really good at rationalizing laziness. Ask my profs). Oh wait! It could be the insanity of school and stuff and you know, all that work that I've totally, totally been doing. All the time. Every day. Or it could be...that other thing, too. You know. The thing, with the stuff?
See? I have lots of reasons.
In all honesty though a zillion things have happened since mid-september. Yes, I said a zillion. Yes, it's a good thing I am not a math major. Let's move on.
- Proving once more that I am still true to my old self, I lost my wallet on a dark Saturday evening. My lovely, leather wallet containing my driver's license, my debit and credit cards, my student card, my health card, and just because losing only important things wouldn't be good enough, my MEC card. 'Where did you possibly lose something so incredibly important?!?' you may ask. Well, hold on. I'll get to that.
So, there I was at school far from home with no money and no ID and basically I didn't exist. That situation, FYI, is not as much fun as you're all thinking. I advise avoiding it and going bowling instead or something. Anyway, after approxamatley TOO MANY days of being wallet-less, I decided that the best plan of action would be to assume that I am incredibly predictable. For some people, that would mean checking normal places, like your car or your backpack or your jacket pocket. For me, that means going to every Tim Horton's within a fifteen minute walk of residence. Lo and behold: WALLET! Apparently I am a creature of habit.
- Classes. I go to them, mostly. I have exams for them soon. Also, lots of work. Annnnnnd, that's a wrap. (School is exciting obv).
- I have a co-op work term next semester, which means I've already started applying for jobs. The interview cycles start on Monday (that would be tomorrow Monday), however....none of the employers I've applied to over the University's system have even looked at the resumes sent to them by anyone (there's an indication when they have). Which, yeah. Really promising. Just what I like to see. There are some jobs there I would be absolutely thrilled to get, so fingers crossed.
- MY BIRTHDAY IS IN THREE DAYS! Except I have a midterm the day after. At 8:30 am. Whoooooooo?
- I signed up to take part in a psychological study dealing with what motivates people to exercise. I'll be exercising 30 minutes 3 mornings a week for a month. Since I am incredibly, incredibly lazy, this will almost definitely be good for me. I will probably whine a lot though. I hope the other participants bring ear plugs.
- Lastly, my microbiology prof has finally cemented himself in the hall of awesome by bringing a Bunsen burner and lab set to lecture and proceeding to go through a bunch of random experiments that he thought were, and I quote, 'More fun than a barrel of monkeys'. He said that. Who says that? TV characters say that. Humorous TV characters say that. And also my prof. Anyway, he lit stuff and did cell stuff and it was all quite ridiculous and probably illegal, but mostly it was really cool. I have to admit, even if you don't love Micro, you would have had fun in that class. Maybe even more fun than a glass of monkeys. But a barrel? That's just ridiculous.
