my real world story

Yesterday I auditioned for the Real World!

everyone who knows me, knows about my obsession with the show. I've loved it since Seattle and I've wanted to audition since I was like 15. So finally last year when I was finally 18, I was very close to sending in an audition tape but for various reasons (ie: my roommate's boyfriend's refusal to lend me his video camera without rules and regulations) I didn't send it in.

So I finally got my chance this year! I didn't even have to send in an audition tape because they were holding LIVE CASTING CALLS RIGHT HERE IN NEW YORK CITY!

They were held at Culture Club...this 80's dance club.

It was from 10-5 so you know people were about to be pressed & sleep over night. But me, I'm not down for all that...so I gots me some VIP passes. yes that's right..they're for Very Important People. ie: this nickster. I had to hunt down ::cough::STALK::cough:: this lady who was giving them out to various organizations around campus.

And I really did stalk her.

Last Friday she sent out an email on one of the listserves I'm on, saying that she had VIP passes for whoever was interested in auditioning for the real world. and if we're interested in receiving the passes, we should reply.

well, I replied before I even finished reading the whole email.

waited all weekend, and emailed her again on Sunday.

she replied on monday, saying that she's been "bogged down with work" and will get back to me on tuesday.

didn't hear from her all week. so Friday, the day before the auditons, I decide to take action.

I look up her name in the nyu directory, didn't find it. So i went digital and typed it into the nyu online directory.

her name pops up, with a phone number and office name.

i call her, leave a message at 1pm.

didn't hear back. call again at 4:45, only for this guy to tell me she's in a meeting and that the office closes at 5pm.

so i ask my supervisor if i can leave early (im at work), quickly type the office name into the search engine, locate where it is, and run over there before 5pm when the doors close.

get there at 4:53!!

sit in her desk chair for 25 minutes

she finally appears..."you must be looking for me!"

heck yeah im looking for you!

she gives me the passes.

im such a warrior...

k but anyways, so i finally have the passes. this way we dont have to wait in the line at all.

we get there at 10am on saturday morning and laugh at the line of over 300 ppl which wraps all the way around the building...we saunter to the front of the line, fill out the application, and waltz in for the first group interview....yeah we got it like that ;)

so the interview was madd quick. we didnt even touch surface level!! im here all ready to divulge my life story and every secret...and all she really asked us was like 2 questions, collected our apps & picture, and that was IT! the hell? it was aight though.

it was 12 people in 1 group. out of those 12, 6 were nyu students, 7 were black females, and 5 of those black females were "stereotypical" black girls from the boroughs. im serious. i think they all described themselves as "tough on the outside but sensitve on the inside" oh, and they were all from BK. me, I stood out. I mentioned my relationship with Justin and everybody chuckled ;) they told us we'll get a phone call by today (sunday) and if we dont get one, that means we're not wanted for a 2nd individual interview and then we'll get a letter like 5 months later...

it was fun though. i went with my suitemate evelyn(i call her my SWEETIE. get it?? suitemate, sweetie??) and lindsey. they were good!

anyways, thats my real world story. i'd audition again
