There are a few things that I have no tolerance for. Racism is one of them. I am sorry but jokes about Jewish people are not funny. I watched Borat and I stopped. I know that he is actually Jewish and the point of his clear racist characters is a satire, but not everyone does. It leads to other people making jokes. I hear people all the time talk about how funny it was in the movie about the running of the Jews and when they stayed at the Jewish couple's b&b and threw down money. I live in a smaller city full of small close minded people. It is not funny to make racial jokes or slurs. You can not make fun of something unless you are one. Much like no one can make fun of how pale I am, unless they are pale as well. I am a history major and my area of focus was WWI up to post WWII, but mostly the fascist regime. I know I am over sensitive when it comes to this sort of thing, but knowing and seeing footage of what really happened, I refuse to believe that there is such a thing as too sensitive. I don't believe that there is any case that it is okay for someone to make an ignorant joke about a race, culture, or religion. I am not confrontational or call people out on things often. I am an easy going person, who minds their manners and is open minded, BUT I will always be out spoken about ignorance. Even as a young child I would tell my grandfather to not say such mean things to those who were different coloured skin than we were. He clearly did not like people who had darker skin, or people from eastern Asia. As time went by he learned to keep his mouth shut, at least around me. It is infuriating and I am the group they are making fun of. I am still haunted by the images of the Nazi's footage they were so very proud of. Racism of any kind is not funny and I am a stick in the mud, when people tell them, or say racists things.
