Everyone expects vegetarians to fall for bacon, but I never liked it (the taste is never as good as the smell, so disappointing.)
I used to miss sausages, but now there's good vege sausages. I still miss massive juicy steaks but c'est la vie.
Roast dinner, though. Yum.
So I'm delighted to have discovered a good, easy, cheap vege roast.
Mix in a bowl a 170g pack of dry sage & onion stuffing, 100g dried soya, 2-3tsp dried tarragon, 1 tsp garlic granules. Make it up with 800ml stock and masses of butter. Leave to swell while you oil a muffin pan, then pack it in to make a dozen soya "cakes". Roast 35-40 min at 200C.
Serve 2 "cakes" per adult with plenty of gravy and all the trimmings (not the meaty ones, obviously.)
It's good cold too.
