Deathly Hallows - Chapters 1-3

I got my copy of Deathly Hallows this morning and then forced myself to finish working on some other things before starting to read.
Have read the first three chapters now and I'm so cheerfully hyperactive that I've decided to write down some of my reactions.

Quotes
Very interesting. One of my theories is that Harry will journey to the underworld in some way, perhaps by going through the veil in the Ministry of Magic.
Or he might communicate with Sirius via the mirror he still must have somewhere... The quote: "In this divine glass they see face to face." might be a hint in this direction.

Chapter 1: The Dark Lord Ascending
J.K. Rowlings, I adore you! In one chapter, you finally give me Malfoy Manor, Snape and the Malfoy family as well as Bellatrix! Yay!

Love the interactions between Lucius, Narcissa and Draco. Narcissa appears to be way stronger than Lucius in this situation. Definitely no stupid trophy wife, but a woman you loves her son and her husband and will fight for them.

Bellatrix and Voldemort: I'm not a fan of Bellatrix, though she is intriguing in her almost sexual devotion to Voldemort. Still, I feel sorry for her when Voldemort mocks her.

So Remus and Tonks have already married.

Oh, and Snape is so smart. I have not the slightest doubt that he is ultimately "Dumbledore's man" and working against Voldemort.

Chapter 2: In Memoriam
Ah, the mirror makes an appearance!

Heh, Harry still has the "Potter Stinks!" button, Draco Malfoy made in 4th year. :-)

Learning more about the background of Dumbledore is wonderful; fascinating that his father killed some muggles. To me, this is an additional explanation as to why Dumbledore uses his last minutes to change Draco's point of view and offers him protection. He knows that having a murderer for a father does not mean that the son has to become a murderer as well.

Chapter 3: The Dursleys Departing
Dudley!! So wonderful to see him break out of his stereotype and achieve a will of his own. Once again the message appears to be that children can follow different paths than their parents.

Must continue reading...
