Babylon 5

I did something foolish on the weekend. I only wanted to check if the Babylon 5 episodes my husband got for me are of good quality. I ended up watching nine episodes over the weekend (8 episodes from season 1 plus "Dust to Dust" from season 3 which I still remembered for its intensity ( Read more... )

Firstly, you're talking with the person who wondered the same thing about Londo & G'Kar, as for a a decade there was one single (gen) story about them I could find. Whereupon I stopped wondering and started to write, and infected others.*g* So by now, yours truly, kangeiko and andrastewhite wrote a sizable amount of fanfic, both gen and slash, and hobsonphile of course is THE Vir writer.

Yes, JMS is a big,big LotR fan.

Thirdly, don't do that - watch episodes out of order, I mean. As much as Dust to Dust rocks. Because B5 of all the shows is made of continuity, and you don't want to get spoiled, either, if you can avoid it ( ... )

Thanks for the links! I will definitely check out the stories. :-)
(It's odd, isn't it? Some fandoms seem to attract lots of writers, e.g. Harry Potter or X-Files. Other fandoms are also very popular, but there's not that much fanfiction. And with Babylon 5 I s don't get it: All the characters I've seen so far are very vividly drawn.)

And I solemnly swear not to watch any other episodes out of order.

So nice there's yet another show we both like!
I'm really impressed by the quality of the first season so far.

I love B-5. In fact, it's the last television series I watched regularly.

And I share your other friend's advice: do not watch the episodes out of order. There is too much that builds slowly as well as the big plot developments, and you will deny yourself a lot of pleasure if you don't let it unfold.

I am spoiled for some further developments, but I promise to stick to the correct viewing order from now on.

It's so neat that there are still excellent TV shows out there for me to discover. After Babylon 5 and Angel, there's e.g. Battlestar Galactica to look forward to. :-)
