... HOOOOOOLLYYYYYY SHIIIIIIIIT. Yeah, it was kind of amazing. And intense. And wow. I won't say anything about it for fear of spoiling it for anyone, but oh gosh that was quite a good film! (And I'm totally writing this post to wind down from it. Eheh).
First week of second-year uni: done and dusted. :D
And it was a pretty good week too, all in all! Especially in terms of classes, which makes me happy. Finally I've worked out the subjects that I like! Them being: Japanese 7, Introducing Literature, Performance in Context 1 and Contemporary Performance. Or, Japanese, English and Drama. xD
Japanese has become SCARY. Honestly, the jump from Japanese 6 to 7 is huge. The lectures and all the classes are done entirely in Japanese, and they expect a lot more from you. BUT, I don't hate it. ....Yet. xD Nah, I don't think I'll ever hate it, it's just going to be very... challenging. By far my hardest subject.
Performance in Context 1 is the first semester of the drama subject I did last year, and it's funnn. It's a first-year subject as well, so it's not as difficult, and we get to read Greek tragedies and Shakespeare and stuff. Also I know a fair few people in it and a friend of mine from student theatre's in my tute, so that helps too :D
Introducing Literature is frickin' alksjdf. SO MUCH YAY. Okay yeah, so the lectures are on at 8am Monday and 8am Friday, which is pretty much the worst times possible, and we have to read close to a book a week (and I'm a slow reader), but aw man, the book list is awesome (Hamlet, Jane Eyre, Frankenstein...), and heck, with a lecturer like that, I don't even mind being at uni so early. He's so wonderful- he's this fairly old man, with a proper English accent that reminds me of a mix between Stephen Fry and Michael Gambon (guy who played Dumbledore), and he talks about books. I mean what's not to like?! xD Also, my tutor seems lovely, as does the people in the tute, and just to top it all off I'm in the same tute as
rdm_ation, and we're totally doing our class presentation together. On Hamlet. As I said, SO MUCH YAY! :D
As for Contemporary Performance, I haven't actually been to that class yet- I only enrolled into it on Monday, and realised on Tuesday when it showed up on my timetable that I had missed the one class that's on all week, on Monday afternoon. XD Ah well, not much that can be done about that. That's also looking to be a good subject, as it has another good lecturer taking it- not quite as grandfatherly as the English lecturer, but good all the same. He's a stocky, completely bald man with thick black square glasses, and he's quite intense, but only because he's passionate. And his lectures often become quite philosophical, which is another win for me. So yeah, woot.
...All in all, it's looking like a pretty awesome semester :D Reading-heavy though, but I'll survive. I'm reading A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man at the moment, and it's... difficult. But I think I'll like it!
Another thing I did this week: AUDITIONS~
I auditioned for The Witches (yes, as in the Roald Dahl, WEEE), and King Lear. They were lots of fun to do, especially The Witches (even if I was auditioning with my Oshow director, EEP). I reaaaally hope I get into one of them >_< Both of the auditions were neither terrible nor amazing, and there's a lot of people auditioning for both, so... we'll see how it goes. I don't really know what to expect but I'm hoping for the best! Being in either would be so so much fun :D Will know if I got in next week!
Okay, I'm going to leave it there. Will comment back to people and not be such a lurker tomorrow sometime, I promise. xD Night all! xo
