[ History ] :
Guy meets girl walking along the beach on Long Island, New York. Guy and girl fall in love. Guy and girl have baby together. Sounds simple enough, except that this guy is a god - Poseidon - and can't stay to raise the baby. The girl was Sally Jackson, who gave birth to Perseus Jackson, also known as Percy. She married a man named Gabe Ugliano, whom Percy later nicknamed “Smelly Gabe”.

Percy, with his tendency towards getting into trouble, never lasted more than a year in a single school before being kicked out. 6th grade was no exception. The only strange things were his Latin teacher, Mr. Brunner, and the fact that he made a friend, Grover Underwood.

And the fact that his pre-algebra teacher turned into a Fury, an ancient Greek monster. After escaping from her (and gaining Anaklusmos), Percy and his mother spent a weekend in a cabin on the beach where she met Poseidon - until they were attacked by a minotaur. Grover showed up, revealed himself to be a satyr, and tried to help Percy and his mother escape. His mother was about to be strangled by the monster, but turned into a shower of golden light. Injured, Percy and Grover managed to reach Camp Half-Blood, where demigods like Percy are trained and taught how to survive. “Mr. Brunner” showed up there, as well, revealing himself to be Chiron, the famous centaur. The camp is run by “Mr. D”, a.k.a. Dionysus (who's in banishment from Olympus and wine for a year for chasing after a wood nymph who was “off limits”). Among the campers he met there was Luke, a son of Hermes. At camp, he was claimed by Poseidon (basically it was revealed that he was Poseidon's son).

Percy was offered a quest to retrieve Zeus' stolen lightning bolt (mostly because he's been blamed for it), and traveled with Grover and Annabeth (a daughter of Athena) to the Underworld, in Los Angeles. All the while Percy had dreams of a deep pit, and an evil voice. Through a series of incidents that they barely managed to escape from (up to and including an encounter with Ares, god of war), they reached the Underworld, where Hades revealed that his Helm of Darkness was missing and blames Percy for the theft. He also reveals that Sally Jackson is not dead, and he would be willing to trade his Helm for her.

Obviously, something was very wrong there. The trio managed to escape the Underworld just in time, and found that Luke was the one who stole the lightning bolt, but was caught by Ares, who made a deal with the demigod. Percy faced off with Ares, and managed to escape, and bring the bolt back to Mount Olympus (which is currently located on the top of the Empire State Building). He found out that there was a prophecy that said that the next half-blood child of one of the “Big Three” (Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades) to reach sixteen would either save Olympus or destroy it.

Back at camp, Percy was attacked by Luke, who revealed that he was working for the titan lord, Kronos. Luke escaped from camp, and Percy finished the summer at camp before going home to try a new school. His mother used Medusa's head (which Percy gave to her) to turn Smelly Gabe to stone.

Fast forward to the end of seventh grade, where Percy made a new friend, Tyson. He also had been having nightmares about Grover. Of course, Percy couldn't end the year normally, and monsters attacked his school. Annabeth showed up and helped Percy and Tyson escape, and it was revealed that Tyson was a cyclops. They head to camp, where Thalia's tree (a daughter of Zeus who was turned into a pinecone tree to prevent her from dying, and protected the magical border of camp) had been poisoned. He also found out that Grover is missing, after heading off at the end of the previous summer to search for the lost god Pan, as most satyrs did (though none had any success).

Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson (who was claimed as a son of Poseidon, making him Percy's half-brother) headed out to the Sea of Monsters (a.k.a. the Bermuda Triangle) to find the Golden Fleece to heal the tree, and hopefully find Grover as well. After another series of adventures, involving such stops as a visit from Hermes, a stopover on Luke's ship (where it was revealed that he was using a golden sarcophagus to try to help Kronos come back to life and amass an army), and the witch Circe's spa (where Percy was turned - temporarily - into a guinea pig), the trio arrived on the island of the Cyclops, where they rescued Grover and found the Golden Fleece. They are captured by Luke, but managed to be rescued by Chiron's centaur relatives.

Back at camp, the Fleece was put on Thalia's tree. It healed the tree... and also restored Thalia to her human form.

Around winter break that year, Percy received an urgent distress call from Grover to help him rescue two half-bloods at a military academy where the vice principal was actually a monster (the Manticore). Percy, Thalia, and Annabeth went to the school, and almost managed to get the half-blood siblings out before Percy attacked the vice principal. The group was about to die, but the goddess Artemis and her Hunters came to the rescue. Annabeth fell off of a cliff, and Percy thought she was dead. Bianca, the older sister of the sibling pair, swore herself to Artemis to become one of her Hunters. Artemis sent the group to camp while she went to hunt an evil monster of old.

Thalia and Percy argue over strategy during a capture the flag game, but during the fight, the Oracle left the attic of the main camp house and spoke a prophecy. Bianca, Grover, Thalia, and Zoë Nightshade (the lieutenant of the Hunters) left on a quest, and Percy followed them. He rescued the group when they were attacked by the Nemean Lion and joined the quest. The entire time he had dreams about Annabeth and Artemis holding up the sky.

In New Mexico, Grover sensed the presence of Pan, and the Erymanthian Boar comes to their aide to help carry them towards San Francisco. In the junkyard of the gods, Percy met Ares again and talked to Aphrodite. The group entered the junkyard, and Bianca tried to steal something for Nico (her brother), but awoke a prototype Talos (a giant man of bronze). They fought against the giant, and Bianca managed to destroy the monster, however she disappeared after that.

The group made it to the Hoover Damn but were attacked again, and Percy met a mortal girl who could see through the Mist named Rachel. She helped him escape. In San Francisco, Percy discovered that a strange marine cowlike creature he rescued was the Ophiotaurus, who is the monster they were questing for. Burning this monster's entrails would give one the power to destroy Olympus. Grover took the monster back to camp, and they continued on to go rescue Annabeth, meeting her father in the process. Zoë was revealed to be a daughter of Atlus, and she helped the group climb to the top of a mountain and reach Artemis (who had been captured) and Annabeth. A fight ensued and the goddess and half-blood were rescued, though Zoë was killed.

Upon returning to New York (and Mount Olympus), Thalia joined Artemis' Hunters so she wouldn't turn 16 (she was one day shy). Nico and Bianca's father was revealed to be Hades, and Nico ran away from camp. Grover arrived at camp and claimed that he heard Pan in his mind saying “I await you”.

At the freshman orientation at his new high school, Percy ran into the girl he had met at the Hoover Dam. Of course, monsters attacked, and he ran into Annabeth, whom he was supposed to meet up with later. Percy and Annabeth went to camp, where Grover was having a hearing with the Council of Cloven Elders, who said that his searcher's license should be revoked for finding no evidence of Pan after he claimed to hear the god. There was a new swordsman trainer named Quintus at camp.

Luke's forces were poised to invade the camp, and Percy and Annabeth found an entrance to the ancient Labyrinth in camp. Annabeth was chosen to lead the quest to find the workshop of Daedalus, inventor of the Labyrinth. Annabeth, Percy, Tyson, and Grover headed off.

After wandering in the Labyrinth for a while, they met up with the goddess Hera who told them to seek out the god Hephaestus - as he might know where Daedalus was. As they searched, them met up with Nico at a demonic dude ranch. Nico blamed Percy for Bianca's death.

The group eventually found Hephaestus, who said he would help them if they found out who had been using his forge at Mount St. Helens. The group split when Grover caught a scent of Pan and Tyson went with him. Percy and Annabeth found monster in the mountain, and Annabeth kissed Percy for good luck when he told her to escape while he could. Percy released all his powers to get rid of the lava thrown on him and the monsters in the forge. He ended up on Calypso's island, where he found out that he needed Rachel to help guide them through the Labyrinth.

Percy and Annabeth had Rachel help them through the maze, and they discovered that Quintus was actually Daedalus. They met up with Nico again and escaped from the Labyrinth during a fight, but had to reenter to find Grover, Tyson, and Luke's army. One last half-blood swore allegiance to Kronos, and the titan entered Luke's body. The group barely escaped, and found Tyson and Grover. They then found the lost god Pan, who told Grover to tell the world he had died, and his spirit would live in all of them.

That was all well and good, but in between Grover getting in trouble with the searcher's council and making sure Rachel was safe, there wasn't much time to mourn, especially since the Titan army attacks the camp just then. There's a battle scene here that doesn't really matter much because surprise! Luke/Kronos isn't defeated for good.

(Also Daedalus dies and so does the Labyrinth but that's a relatively minor plot point in the scheme of things.)

Percy goes off to celebrate his birthday with his mom. Poseidon shows up to tell him that Kronos isn't quite dead yet. After that, Nico shows up and tells him that he has important information for him.

... And promptly gets distracted by blue birthday cake.

Soon after that, Percy is about to turn sixteen. Being a teenager, he does teenager things. ... In this case, try to impress a girl with his stepdad's Prius. Unfortunately for him (and fortunately for the target audience's gross-out reflex, most likely) he gets interrupted by another half-blood and a pegasus crashing his date and pretty much dragging him off to start fighting.

Operation Blow Up Luke's Ship doesn't go so well, and Percy ends up drifting under the sea cue Little Mermaid music and meeting up with Poseidon and Tyson. He wants to help stay and fight since his dad looks like he's pretty much getting fucked over, but he basically gets told "gtfo son, you've got other battles to fight".

Percy gets told back at camp that the Great Prophecy says his fate is to make an important choice and die by a cursed blade. Lovely.

CUE EPIC NICO PLAN. The plan is to bathe in the River Styx. Which Percy does, after getting his mother and stepfather's blessing, seeing how Luke's mother is batfuck insane, getting shoved into a dungeon cell by Hades, and pretty much B| - facing at Achilles' ghost who tells him DON'T DO IT MAN - OKAY FINE IT'S YOUR FUNERAL.

And he realizes during the Styx!dousing that he loves Annabeth. Kind of. Except he's a derp and doesn't really realize it until later.

tl;dr it is battle time, Percy is awesome and fights awesome, it's revealed that Rachel can do prophecies, and Percy is 'not the hero'. Well shit there goes our protagonist -

It turns out Luke's the hero because during the CLIMACTIC SCENE he fights back against Kronos and pretty much commits suicide to save everyone. Yaaaay?

Percy's offered the chance to become a god, but refuses that in favor of both staying with Annabeth and making his one wish/promise/reward/what have you that the gods stop being deadbeat and lay claim to their kids. That way no one has to feel abandoned like Luke did.

And then he kisses Annabeth some and gets shoved in the lake with her, but it's okay because he can make an air bubble for them to sit in.

Ha ha.

[ Personality ] :
Percy is smart, but easily distracted and hyperactive. He cares deeply about his friends, and will fight even the gods themselves to protect them or avenge a wrong. PERCY FIGHTS FOR HIS FRIENDS. He has a strong sense of justice and opposes evil wherever it stands. He can be fairly witty (for a sixteen-year-old boy), cracking the occasional joke. He's a little bit of a loner, since he's been kicked out of every school he's been in. He doesn't really know his father very well, as Poseidon is a busy god. He doesn't always think his battles through, but they tend to turn out all right in the end. He doesn't always think properly when there's a girl involved, though, and has very little idea of how girls think. Overall, though, Percy has a good heart and tries to do the right thing... it's just that he doesn't always approach it the right way.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :

Strengths:

Percy, being a son of Poseidon, has immense control over water. He can manipulate it to his will, whether it be a tiny sprinkle or a huge torrent. He can also cause the air bubbles in water to come together in a large enough bubble to carry a person. He has more energy and strength in water, can resist extreme ocean pressure, and is healed when he enters water. He also has resistance to fires/burns/magma, though not completely. If he falls from a great height and hits water, surface tension doesn't affect him. He can breathe underwater, as well as manipulate ships with his mind in order to make him sail. He also has perfect bearing at sea, and can touch objects underwater to make them dry. He can also sense where objects are underwater, and the ocean's warm and cold currents. If he really concentrates, he can make water flow from petrified seashells, though it takes a lot out of him. He can cause very minor earthquakes (Poseidon is sometimes called the “Earthshaker”), minor storms/hurricanes around himself capable of deflecting weapons, and can communicate with equestrian animals, as his father made horses out of sea foam. He is an excellent swordsman (he carries a sword called Anaklusmos, a.k.a. “Riptide”, disguised as a pen - and it returns to its owner if lost), which is helped along by his ADHD, which makes him more aware in battles. He can also read ancient Greek.

Recently, he's gained the Curse of Achilles. On the plus side, it makes his body nearly invulnerable. The negative side will be covered below.

He also has an empathy link with his friend Grover, but that won't really matter much in-game unless someone apps him.

In regards to mental strengths, Percy's loyalty and dedication to the right thing come to the forefront. He's also fairly clever and resourceful, sometimes thinking up just the right move in the thick of battle. As with all half-bloods, he can see (up to a point) through the Mist, which is the magical fog that obscures mythological monsters and happenings from mortal eyes. His "fatal flaw" is personal loyalty but it probably counts as a strength too.

Weaknesses:

Percy's short attention span and shorter temper get him in trouble fairly often. He often jumps at the chance to prove himself, which sometimes lands him into battles he can't win. His ADHD makes it so he can't sit still, and his dyslexia gives him a lot of trouble with reading English. Anything not written in a fairly plain font in a dark color (if on a light background) or a light color (on a dark background) is a pain to decode - such as a neon sign in curly writing. His powers don't work as effectively in fresh water as in salt water, and it's also very draining on his mental and physical reserves. His sword, Anaklusmos, is made of celestial bronze... which means it's useless if he tries to harm mortals (it just passes right through them). He has a terrible fear of heights - reasonable, since Poseidon's biggest rival is Zeus, lord of the sky, and Zeus isn't fond of Poseidon's children. He can sometimes be too protective of people, sometimes going to absolutely insane lengths to help them.

The "curse of Achilles" means, essentially, that even though his body is nearly invulnerable... he has a very vulnerable point. It's on the small of his back, which is usually covered by armor in battle.

... Also he has no idea how girls work or think. He often misses social cues that seem obvious to his female friends.
[ Other Important Facts ] : Percy is a derp.

[ Sample ] :
The sea was something that Percy could never dislike. For one thing, he had a good amount of control over water, so he never had to fear drowning. For another... well, Poseidon's son couldn't exactly hate the sea. It just wasn't done. Not because it wasn't permitted... but the sea was, basically, in his blood.

He got up from where he was sitting on a log on the beach and looked around. Tyson was talking to Grover, and tinkering with scraps of metal. Annabeth was off climbing a tree to look at an owl's nest, which figured, since owls were Athena's symbol. Chiron was probably off teaching some of the other campers archery... so there was no one left to talk to Percy. Which didn't surprise him, really... he was a child of one of the Big Three. They weren't supposed to exist, really, even if the whole ordeal was done and over with. He was powerful... and that made some people uncomfortable.

He took out Riptide, and uncapped it, watching it grow into a sword. He felt the comfortable weight in his hand, and started practicing some maneuvers. He feinted left, ducked right, and delivered an upward thrust. Then he rolled, dodged, and sliced downwards. Faster and faster his steps went, until they became a blur.

“Seaweed brain!” Percy lost his concentration and dropped his sword. He cursed quietly and picked up Riptide, capping it so it turned back into the ballpoint pen. Annabeth was running towards him to yell at him again. Free time was over. It was back to the cabins for lights out. He cast one last look back at the sea, and then ran to join his friend.

While your overall application was good, the personality section could have been expanded more on. The characterization provided so far is correct, but we would like to see a bit more analysis and development in that section.

Respond to this comment with your revisions and we'll look at it as soon as possible!

Percy realizes that as a demigod, he has a lot of responsibility. His battles have left him with a lot of memories, both good and bad, but he knows he has friends he can rely on. Personal loyalty has been pointed out as his fatal flaw - and while he recognizes that it can be a problem, he's... not really too concerned about fixing that. :| Personal loyalty, relying on his friends, and sheer goddamn stubbornness has gotten him through all his battles so far, and he's not really about to change it right now. He's willing to even stand up to the gods of Olympus to back up his friends - and a lot of them are impressed by that kind of strength of will.

Those that aren't... well. That's why he has combat training, isn't it? 8D;
