[ History (cont'd)] :
That isn't the only sign of Dominic's rebellion. He expresses distaste over Dewey's methods--especially when they involve the death of thousands of innocents. More specifically, Dewey intentionally causes Kute-class Coralians to form, which in turn causes Antibody Coralians to come and slaughter whatever they can. Dominic even admits to himself later, while surrounded by corpses, that although he thought he was prepared for this, there's something about it he can't stand. At that very scene, he notices a certain flower: an anemone. He gives them to Anemone upon his return, unintentionally insulting her--the meaning of "anemone" is "lost hope." This leads to a moment in which he promises to save her and proceeds to kiss her. She rejects him, claiming that he doesn't understand anything about her, as she feels that he's only trying to make himself feel better.

Not long after, he acts as an escort for her to a party that Dewey is holding. At the mansion, Dewey gives him his next orders: find a replacement for Anemone. Believing that this is the only way to save her, Dominic heads to Warsaw with the Izumo crew. The thing about Warsaw, though, is that it's an abandoned city-state destroyed by the Summer of Love and Jurgen's hometown (and implied to be Dominic's as well). Dominic comments on its current condition, before Jurgens requests that they stop for a moment. He then walks over to where his old house was, silently mourning the death of his wife and children. Impatient and not in the best of moods, Dominic inconsiderately demands that he return to the car by honking at him, and is shoved away by the driver for his rudeness. When Jurgens comes back and the group resumes driving, Dominic angrily tells him, "Do you think you're the only one who lost his family in the damn war? You're not the only suffering that kind of pain. You're the only one..."

Ultimately, they arrive at their destination. It's there that Dominic realizes how much of a bastard Dewey truly is, as he learns that Anemone, who was once an ordinary girl, was operated on until she became an artificial human-form Coralian. Now, he's expected to choose another girl to go through the same pain--or he would've been, if the candidates didn't all die in an operation right in front of him. Needless to say, the drive back is a solemn one. Dominic breaks the silence by telling them that his parents died in the war, before going to talk about Anemone. Not only does he now feel some self-loathing for always letting her do what she wanted when it was destroying her mind and body, he's horrified to think that in order to save her, he'd have to sacrifice someone else.

There are two good things that comes from all this, fortunately. One is that he and Jurgens start getting along now. Two, having serious doubts about the military, the two of them decide to talk to the Gekkostate. Consequently, they learn everything they need to know. Dewey is trying to annihilate all Coralians. To do that, though, would end humanity in the same blow. Therefore, the Izumo crew sides with the Gekkostate, after an unsuccessful attempt to convince the rest of the military to do the same.

Dominic finally carries out his promise to Anemone when she's sent on a suicide mission to destroy the Command Cluster Coralian (i.e. the central mind for Coralians). By now, Anemone has spiralled into depression. She no longer holds Dewey in the same regard as she once did, and Dominic, whom she's now discovered her feelings for, is gone. Meanwhile, Dominic, again, launches without permission. Unfortunately, he goes MIA when his shuttle is destroyed while trying to reach Anemone.

Just as Anemone says to Eureka that it's all too late, Dominic comes falling from the sky, grasping onto a piece of the broken aircraft. Unfortunately for him, Anemone is also in mid-attack at that moment and unable to stop theEND from completing it. Due to the consequential impact, Dominic is knocked unconscious.
