Superboy / Conner Kent | Young Justice | Reserved, Part 1 superboysmash August 30 2011, 02:21:46 UTC
[ Player Name ] : Saint
[ Personal LJ ] : saintcynicism
[ Age ] : Almost 24! (September)
[ Timezone ] : Arizona
[ Other Characters ] : Inque, Duncan

[ Character's Name ] : Superboy / Conner Kent / Project Kr

[ Character's Age ] : 23 weeks, 6 days. (16 weeks at the time of the first episode, aged according to the dates at the beginning of each following episode). Note that he looks to be about the same age as the average 16 or 17 year old human, and possesses a similar level of intelligence (he won't be acting like a baby, in other words).

[ Series ] : Young Justice

[ Canon Point ] : After the episode "Targets"

[ History ] :
Superboy article on the Young Justice Wiki. Note that some information is from the comic series. This Superboy is from the animated series.

[ Personality ] :
Superboy is the most maladjusted social thing that ever was. Cadmus' G-Gnomes taught him virtually everything he knows, but the lessons seemed to be more focused on concrete knowledge and facts more than any social skills, or matters such as understanding the symbolic importance of certain things (such as being oblivious to carrying M'gann's books meaning anything more than keeping them dry. Similarly, he might not understand the societal importance given to certain events such as birthdays, understanding it means someone is a year older, but not knowing why it's anything special).

He frequently acts like a fish out of water in even the most mundane social situations. This cluelessness can easily cause him to come off as rude or insensitive, as tact or similar social skills appear lost on him. He also possesses a violent temper, though through Black Canary's mentoring, he has at least been able to improve his ability to channel that anger and to some extent, suppress it (as it becomes easy for M'gann to call him off when he becomes angered, something that isn't likely to have been possible before). He's also fairly quiet, and apparently likes hearing white noise (SOURCE).

He cares about each of his teammates, especially their safety, though he has a much stronger relationship with Miss Martian (though probably isn't entirely sure what it is, given how oblivious he can be). In her case, he is incredibly protective, even overly so, despite an admittedly rocky start between them. Superman is a source of much conflict for Superboy, as he looks up to and respects the hero he was cloned from, but is simultaneously furious with him for refusing to spend time with him, even showing difficulty acknowledging his existence at times (like calling him "Superboy" only as an awkward afterthought).

He does not like being bossed around, though he does know the difference between that and someone giving sensible advice or orders (e.g.: "seal the door so they can't get through" vs. "hey, go get me another glass of ice water, chop chop" ). This peeve does not necessarily apply to being asked to do things, as his response to that depends on his mood and what he thinks of the person. Likewise, he has a grave dislike of telepathic intrusion or communication, though he's warmed to the idea somewhat due to M'gann not abusing the ability and showing she can be respectful about it. Safe to say it would be incredibly ill advised for anyone else to do so, however. This stems from lingering hostility about being controlled by the G-Gnomes through similar methods, and his treatment by Cadmus in general.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
+ Superhuman Strength: The guy's torn the turret off a tank, okay? While he's not as strong as Superman, he's nonetheless capable of taking on the likes of Bane and Mammoth and holding his own, if not defeating them outright. He's also been shown able to pull a fully loaded bus back onto a bridge after it had crashed off the side.

+ Nigh Invulnerable: Like Superman, he's virtually invulnerable. While things like gunshots or explosions hurt him, they very, very rarely cause lasting damage. His feet have even been able to withstand being dipped in lava, and came out in one piece.

+ Super Leap: He can't fly. But as Kid Flash says, "looks like you can leap tall buildings in a single bound- still cool." Based on the numbers on the inside of the Cadmus elevator shaft, it looks like Superboy's maximum [vertical] jump height is about 33 stories (he jumps from SL 42 and passes SL 10 entirely, but does not pass SL 09. Therefore, he has jumped approximately 33 stories, otherwise we'd have seen SL 09 beneath him). Horizontally is unverified, but he can at least clear multiple football fields at a time.

+ Encyclopedic Knowledge: You can thank the G-Gnome education for this. Keep in mind that, again, this is limited to facts, and only those Cadmus deemed appropriate for the average high school student to know. So while he has an understanding of world history and other core subjects, odds are he is less of an expert and more of an encyclopedia. In other words, he could describe a historical incident in detail, how it occurred, etc., but not answer the much more difficult questions like why it occurred. It's a skill that hasn't been learned (as evidenced by his ability to recite an encyclopedic breakdown of Rhelasian history from formation to the then-current conflict between the North and South, but an inability to understand why they were fighting one another).

+ Combat Training: While not an expert, he is well above the rank of your average thug. This comes from the fact he's been receiving training lessons in hand to hand combat and associated strategy from Black Canary.

- Kryptonian Weaknesses: (Largely speculation) Being cloned from Superman, he naturally shares all his weaknesses. Being cut off from yellow sunlight would amount to a slow drain on his powers due to no "recharge," red sunlight makes him "normal" in comparison to his super-self, kryptonite is very bad for him, and magic is one of the means by which someone can cause him significant, lasting harm. While the damage is no more permanent than it would be a normal human, it does stick around about as long as it would for a normal human, and his resistance to it is significantly lower.

- Anger Issues: Superboy going ballistic is not good for anyone. While he can be calmed now, keep in mind only M'gann has been shown able to do so. And he gets angry pretty easily.

- Overprotective: While looking out for your teammates is one thing, he doesn't seem to understand that the same amount of force need not apply to day-to-day interaction. He almost attacked the cheer squad after they dumped water on M'gann, so...really if you're looking to bait the guy into a trap, just harm or humiliate his friends. Or his Martian Not!Girlfriend.

[ Other Important Facts ] :
According to series producer Greg Weisman, Superboy speaks many, many languages. Some examples are English, Spanish, French, Korean, Arabic, and Russian. It's safe to assume he knows the vast majority of existing major languages, though more traditional, dead, or regional variations may be unfamiliar to him (e.g.: While it would make sense to assume he also understands Japanese, it would be quite unlikely that he's fluent in Navajo or Ancient Greek). [ Sample ] :
Here and he butts in here for more interaction goodness.

((Forgot to add these to his strengths aaaaah @___@ ))

+ Telescopic / Infrared Vision: Not only can Superboy "zoom in" to see objects far away (at the cost of a much narrower field of vision of course), but he also has excellent nightvision and is capable of seeing in the infrared spectrum.*

+ Superhuman Senses: Obviously keen eyesight applies, but he's also been shown to have extremely keen hearing, able to hear a stick snap underfoot during a jungle mission by an adversary more than a hundred meters away (and despite what the wikia article says, no, he does not have the ability to "track someone by scent like a bloodhound." I have no idea what idiot put that in there).
