It was on one of her adventures that she managed to go to a town that she felt a true connection to, that being Champagne City. She went while looking for a bounty and ended up single-handedly taking down the gang that ruled the city with a iron fist at the time. First she took down the boss and then went to disband the rest of the ruffians. While finishing the last of her clean-up, she came across a group of gang members picking on another member, Bayard, who managed to fudge something up. Quickly she took action, beating down all of the men without even having to fire a bullet. Then she noticed that Bayard was pretty badly beaten up and offered to treat his injuries. But when he pulled a knife on her and claimed that she was just lying so that he could trust her, she smiled and talked him into letting her treat him. After that, she attempted to put his life back together and get him out of the gang business. Sometime during that, she also told him of her friendship with Train.
When Saya told Train that story, she didn’t have any illusions about it. She knew that despite how much she hoped that the man would be able to leave the gang and stand on his own two feet, he would probably just take the easy way out and fall into the bad life again. However it’s the choice he made, so she didn’t mind. She did what she could, after all.
It was when Saya returned from one of these trips that a whole ‘nother series of events started rolling. She had gone out of town to go after a bounty of 80 grand, following a tip from an informant who she’d given 2 grand for the info. However it turns out that this was a lie, and by the time she got back into town, the informant had upped and moved away. The nerve! So unsurprisingly, Saya was in less than a good mood by the time she returned to her apartment and found Train standing outside her door, wondering if she’d managed to get herself killed. Just another hit to her pride, that. She retells the story to him outside, moping over how she had already planned on buying a lot of delicious food with that 80 grand, and then proceeding to lash out at Train when he chuckles at her misfortune. He notices that it was the first time that he’d seen her lose her cool over a bounty, and they both acknowledge how much they’d managed to change since they first met. Saya started showing more of her true personality, and Train…? Saya actually managed to get Train to smile and enjoy life a little. That is an accomplishment in itself. However she can’t help but comment that everything would be fine and dandy if he could only leave Chronos, to which he replies that it… really isn’t that easy.
No, not it isn’t easy. Not by a long shot. Under Saya’s influence, Train had started abandoning his duties as an eraser and instead allowed his targets to live and gave the advice to lay low for a while. Chronos did not approve and captured Train, bringing him into a state of captivity, which was no more lavish than a room with a bed and toilet in it. Meanwhile, Saya’s back at her apartment, making constant calls to Train’s phone, which he can’t pick up. She’d been wanting to speak with him about something. When there’s a knock on the door, she can’t help but think that it’s probably Train and goes to see.

Then a blade comes through the crack in the door.
