[ Player Name ] : Akushou [ Personal LJ ] : akushou [ Age ] : 21 /drinks [ Timezone ] : Central U.S. [ Other Characters ] : twotimingmutt
[ Character's Name ] : Rider (real name: Medusa) [ Character's Age ] : Over 9000 (looks around 18) [ Series ] : Fate/Stay Night [ Canon Point ] : Visual Novel, Fate route, after she was blasted out of the sky by Saber
[ History ] : Rider’s true identity is none other than the Gorgon of legend, Medusa. She and her sisters, Stheno and Euryale, were created to be the ideal goddesses, but Medusa was made mortal and grew older and taller over time. She was also cursed with the Mystic Eyes of Petrification, which turned every mortal she turned her gaze upon to stone. Athena was jealous of the beauty of Medusa and her sisters, and so she turned their followers against them and banished them to the Shapeless Isle. Betrayed, Medusa became bitter towards humans, and began killing and eating those who came to the island seeking her sisters. These actions caused her to turn into the vicious Gorgon many know her as. In the end, she devoured her own sisters and was beheaded by the hero Perseus.
Later on, Medusa was summoned into the 5th Holy Grail War as the Servant Rider by Sakura Matou. However, Sakura was bullied into surrendering Rider to her adoptive brother, Shinji. As Shinji commonly raped and abused his own sister, he of course had no qualms with performing the same actions on Rider. Being the faithful Servant that she was, Rider endured it and went along with Shinji’s actions. In the Fate route, Shinji commands Rider to put up a boundary field around his school. When fully activated, the field (called Blood Fort Andromeda) would proceed to dissolve all of the students in the area and turn them into pure Mana for Rider to absorb. This was thwarted by Shirou Emiya and his Saber Servant, but before Shirou could force Shinji to give up his command of Rider, she stepped in and used her Noble Phantasm in order to escape with her false Master.
At the end of the route, Rider once again attacks Shirou and Saber, starting their final battle. It continues up the side of a large building and ends up on the roof, where Rider summons her child, Pegasus. This Pegasus was a gift that Poseidon bestowed upon her, and he is the catalyst for her greatest Noble Phantasm, Bellerophon. However, before Rider could obliterate her opponents, Saber unleashed Excalibur and destroyed Rider before she could complete her attack.
[ Personality ] : Rider is described as being ‘silent, sultry, and vigilant’. She is very quiet, never speaking until she is being spoken to directly and feels that what’s being said actually warrants a response. When she does speak, she very direct and to the point, typically keeping her feelings out of the conversation. However, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t express anything at all. If she is fighting and has the upper hand, Rider has no problem with mocking her opponents, and when talking about her relationship with Sakura, she seems to soften up and speak warmly about the girl. Her speech is also rather formal and polite, but only when she’s not mocking people.
Although she is affectionate towards Sakura, as the two have a lot in common, Rider feels no warmth towards Shinji. She thinks of him as vile and pathetic creature. However, as he has taken Sakura’s command seals and has control over Rider, she can’t do anything about it, and faithfully follows his instructions despite her personal feelings towards him.
It is not fully seen in each route on its own, but Rider does have a sadistic side to her. When confronting Shirou in the school, she slashes his arms to pieces rather than killing him quickly, and when her spike can’t kill him, she instead kicks him out the window of the third floor. In another route, she stalks Shirou in the forest. She then attacks him and strings him up in a tree by his arm, mocking him as the boy attempts to escape. When she’s not fighting, though, Rider can actually seem rather polite, although there is an obvious sense of blood-lust and sadness about her.
Rider | Fate/Stay Night | 2/2twotimingmuttDecember 18 2010, 06:35:52 UTC
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] : Strengths: As one can tell by her name along, Rider has an excellent ability to ride pretty much anything. This can range from modern vehicles to Divine and Phantasmal Beasts, although it does not extend to the dragon race. Her main mount is her child, Pegasus. She is also extremely agile and quick, able to defy gravity and dodge several attacks without being harmed. In battle, Rider has been shown to be extremely cunning. In order to make up for her weaknesses, Rider takes time to assess the situation and use her surroundings and opponents weaknesses to her advantage. Her strongest abilities (Noble Phantasms) include the Mystic Eyes of Petrification, Bellerophon, Blood Fort Andromeda, and the Breaker Gorgon that suppresses her eyes. Her weapons consist of two iron nails fastened onto long chains.
Weaknesses: Rider has extremely low endurance, luck, and divinity. If she is injured in battle, it’s hard for her to recover, even if the wound isn’t a fatal one. Also, Servants need a Master to supply them with magical energy. Since Shinji is unable to give Rider any magical energy (since he is not an actual magus), she must search for energy elsewhere. This means that if she runs out of energy, she has to go out seeking other sources before she can continue fighting.
[ Other Important Facts ] : As a Servant with no ability to stay in the physical world on her own for very long, Rider will have to rely on the energy of Lamufao in order to retain her form. Also, she obviously won’t be able to summon up Pegasus here.
[ Sample ] : The memory of Saber’s attack was still fresh in Rider’s mind as she appeared in Vatheon’s plaza. She could still feel the burning of Excalibur’s power on her skin, still remember the shock and anger she had felt upon realizing that she had lost. Her Noble Phantasm, the one that was supposed to be the greatest of all the Servants’, had been overwhelmed by Saber’s ultimate technique. That knowledge left a bitter taste in Rider’s mouth, but at the moment, there were more important things she had to focus on.
Lifting her head up, Rider could feel the chilled water seeping into her skin. Her long hair and clothing were drenched, but that was all pushed aside in her mind. Where was she? Rider could tell that she was no longer in Fuyuki City, but it didn’t feel like anywhere else she had been to either. There was a strange power surrounding the area, an extremely powerful boundary field of sorts. Rising to her feet, Rider tilted her head up towards the top of the barrier.
“How odd…” she mumbled to herself. There was definitely some strange power at work in this place. Perhaps this was where the Holy Grail had come to rest. She would definitely have to investigate the area more. Already she could sense multiple humans in the surrounding area; she would have to observe them more closely and get as much information out of them as possible.
[ Questions? Comments? Concerns? ] : One of the ways Rider is able to get excess Mana is through draining a person’s blood. Would it be possible for her to do this to some of the locals if she gets into a fight and runs out of energy?

While that is acceptable and perfectly fine, if she does it too often, not only the natives will begin to notice, but Alpha and Thalassino will begin to notice and likely take action. Just remember that there will be IC consequences if she continues to do so!
