So yea I did walk around the whole Vatican City because I got a little lost. But how many people can say they walked an entire country?? Lol...
The next day I woke and hung with Grace and Marianna...a Georgian (USA) and a Mexican (with an excellent American accent! ;) lol)...we went to the Vatican and then got Gelato. awww Ill miss them...
Then I went to the Triburtina Train Station and hung out there. Getting there was hard since I had all my bags but I went at a time when the subway was less crowded (less crowded does not mean NOT CROWDED in ROME lol)...but I made it there only slight sweating haha...
So I bought my ticket for Marsala, Sicily...and in Italian...stumbling only when they asked the date of my birth.
Since I had all my bags and I didnt feel like carting them about Rome I decided to stay at Tiburtina for 5 or 6 hours! It was a blast. Luckily a girl at a hostel in Barcelona had given me a book...so I read. Around 5pm it began to hail (which rarely happens in Rome) so I got to watch all the Romans take pictures and videos as balls of ice pelted their cars. It was like a scene out of the The Day After Tomorrow.
Around 7:30 pm my bus came (which I had trouble finding at first) and the bus driver asked where I was from. I said the States and he laughed and asked if I had family in Sicily. I said yes. He said I certainly resembled a Sicilian (in Italian of course...so the legitimacy of this translation is open to review).
Then began my 15 hour overnight journey to Marsala Sicily.
I must say it went rather smoothly because there were only 5 people on the 50 person bus and I was able to stretch out. They played Italian movies.
Around 3:30am I awoke to some lady sitting next to me that wanted to have a conversation. Talk about spooky eh...waking up to a person looking at you! haha...but I always sleep light on buses so I knew when she sat down. She only spoke Italian but we talked for a bit and I think she might have been a bit off...but she ask for my number. I said that I didn't bring my cellphone. And when she asked if I had a gf I said that I had one now for about a year! hahaha...what can I say? I didnt want to get her hopes up. She was nice tho, if a bit off at 3 in the morning, and I got to practice my Italian.
Around 5 we crossed onto the Island of Sicily in the belly of a boat...our bus parked on this ferry ship and we went from Calabria to Messina. It was like coming home to the true Motherland I must say!
We then proceeded to drive most of the Coastline of the Island until 10am, when it was just me and the driver arriving in Marsala. Remember Spring Break in the bahamas folks? I must say that Sicily can definately contend with the Bahamas. It is BEAUTIFUL. Mountains and sea.
Marsala would turn out to be now exception.
The bus driver dropped me off in a little round about where I headed off to a public phone to call my cousin to come and get me.
