You said it, Sister! I have always wondered about those who move there voluntarily. What I have noticed, too, is that the lack of seasons creates a kind of twilight zone effect. Because you never really see the passing of time, it's like you are trapped in some kind of time warp. Things never change in the desert. It's like some parallel universe to what the rest of the planet experiences. People can get lost in a state (!) like that.
