Scottish Power are ok

I've always been a bit rubbish at paying bills. Bills from Scottish Power, particularly. Now I'll concede that most of the blame for not paying the bills lies with me, but if we consider both sides of the equation, it would be a lot easier for me to pay Scottish Power if they were to recognise and acknowledge that they are the ones who supply me with electricity. Every time I ring up, they tell me that they don't have my details on the system, and that there's no record of them ever supplying electricity to my address. Perhaps it's due to my house not conforming to the "must have postcode AND house number" rule.

Last Thursday, as we were watching the Catherine Tate Show, all the lights went out and the TV turned off. We were experiencing a power cut. The candles came out, we made a pot of tea from a pan on the stove, then we went to bed early.
On Friday, I rang Scottish Power to ask what was going on, and when we could expect the electricity back on again (I was hoping that they hadn't cut me off for not paying more than £20 for the whole year's electricity). They didn't know what the problem was, but they acknowledged my enquiry. The power came back on sometime on Friday afternoon, so all was well once more.

Yesterday lunchtime, I received a phone call from Scottish Power, asking me if I were the bill payer. Considering my past record with Scottish Power, I found this rather amusing, and continued the pretence that I regularly transferred money from my account to theirs.
It turns out that if Scottish Power fail to reconnect your electricity supply within 18 hours, they'll give you £50 as a "pro active gesture". Maybe it's company policy and should be looked upon gratefully; maybe it's just their way of instigating contact once more and determining that I do still exist, and that I have an active bank account, the contents of which they're probably entitled to by now.
