A/N: I planned this initially for Heechul’s birthday, but I don’t know how he slowly evolved to be more about Hankyung. I’m sorry for posting this one day late as well.
On Heechul’s birthday, he woke up to a lovely scent of fresh roses. Turned out that there was indeed a bouquet of red roses alongside chocolates and a note which says how much Hankyung loved him. When he walked to the dining table, Heechul wasn’t surprised to see a plate of Beijing Fried Riced arranged neatly in a heart shape. Then, Hankyung stepped into the room holding a beautifully wrapped box with a huge pink ribbon on top of it. That was how Heechul got his cat.
On Hankyung’s birthday the following year, however, there were no roses, no chocolate, and no love notes. In the kitchen, there was no breakfast. Heechul was nowhere to be seen. As Hankyung walked towards his car, there seemed to be no changes at all; no giant heart pasted on his car, no helicopter flying pass carrying a huge banner that says - Happy Birthday, Hankyung! Zilch, zero, nothing.
At his workplace, Hankyung didn’t find the usual pile of work on his table; his boss didn’t scold him for the hundred-and-one mistakes he supposedly made; the usually mean female receptionists didn’t gossip openly about him, nor did they try to trip him. At the end of the day, the entire staff gathered around his table and bought a birthday cake with his name written on it. The cake was rose-flavoured and it tasted so delicious.
Behind everybody, in a little corner, stood Heechul, who smiled at the sight of everything. Up till today, Hankyung still has no idea who was the one who planned everything.
(Hankyung must’ve been so happy, he failed to remember that he has never told anyone in his workplace about his birthday.)
