Irony:
Blackadder: Baldrick, have you no idea what "irony" is?
Baldrick: Yes, it's like "goldy" and "bronzy" only it's made out of iron.
Unlike everyone's favorite turnip-obsessed dogsbody, I do know what irony is. And once more, intelligence that has been acquired by the Bunker makes me hang my head in disgust. Somehow, I am beginning to doubt the swift and avenging hammer of God. And a night of staying up watching Blackadder has given me yet another applicable quote.
Captain Blackadder: Henceforth I shall pray nightly to the God who killed Cain and squashed Samson that he comes out of retirement and gets back into practice with the pair of you.
I find the irony of the whole situation amusing as hell. It's taken, what, a month, to turn around and get snared again? Emotionally attached and care a lot for my arse. Why is it that people like you can get away with murder, leaving a trail of wounded lives, and then have a shot at happiness when the rest of us have to struggle for one chance, just one chance at happiness? It's days like these that I love the idea of a Final Judgment because that would be so very nice to watch.
"I've been good."
St. Peter: "Sorry, no, not really. Actually, barely at all. I have you here on the red list somewhere above Osama, but below Ted Kennedy. And he killed a girl. So think about that one." -pulls lever-
So, if there is any justice in the world, happiness will arrive on my doorstep, neatly gift-wrapped with a tag, "Sorry it's late, hold-up with the mail. ~ God" or a huge flaming comet will hurtle earthward and strike out with fiery vengeance from on high on said unnamed parties. But my money is on a lack of justice, a continuation of bitter irony, and somehow, God will find a way to make me that much more disgruntled. Anyone else taking odds?
