The Beginning of the End

May 18, 2007 19:37

Today was my last Friday of school ever.

It was also my last Latin lesson ever. My headteacher teaches a small group of three of us Latin every Friday afternoon after school in her own spare time. To thank her, we got her flowers and wine and a card with a little message in Latin inside.

I saw several year 12s (the year under me) for the last time ever and hugged Laura, my train buddy whom I may never see again. The year 12s go on study leave a week earlier than us which is why I wont see them next week.

It just feels so momentous even though I do have a week to go yet. I'll experience my last Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. My last Psychology lesson on Monday, French with Mrs Mylles on Tuesday, French with Miss Wagman on Wednesday, Maths on Thursday. Friday will just be a leaving ceremony. We'll go back for exams of course, but it's the end of taught lessons.

I know some people can't wait to leave school and move on to Uni, but I don't feel this way at all. I do look forward to University, but at the same time I'll miss school. I've spent the last seven years there, after all, growing up and becoming a real person. I'll miss these seven largely happy years. I'll miss a few friends and a lot of amazing teachers. More than that, I'll miss being a kid.
