I'm wondering how everyone here deals with stereotypes, especially when it comes to passing as the opposite sex.

hmm. it can be difficult. i've never really been totally flaming but i do have some trouble passing for straight, so i somewhat see what you mean - i often worry if my slight campness will hinder passing, and in some respects i have deliberately tried not to act that way in the hope i don't 'give myself away'. it seems a shame to have to do that, but i suppose you have to weigh up what is most important to you personally - being seen as a guy, or expressing yourself fully as a somewhat feminine individual.

once you start T then having long hair and wearing eyeliner won't be a problem eventually, but pre-T is when it will be an issue when it comes to passing. it doesn't make you any less trans, but it does somewhat hinder your chance of being taken seriously as a guy by the general public, unfortunately.

if you need to pass but dont want to totally sacrifice your personal style, you could compromise, for instance keep the piercings and eyeliner but lose the long hair, or vice versa. you don't have to go from way camp to totally macho, you may be able to find a comfortable mid-point between those two. i hope you do figure it out though, it sounds like a frustrating situation to be in.
