sunday again. this makes me think of the packers, but they're on monday night football tomorrow against tennessee. go green and gold.
Anni and Jesse just left last night at 3 a.m. I'm glad I get to stay here while they travel all scotland and ireland, and that they'll come visit again, all without my having to go to an airport or anything like that.
The only sort of touristy thing I did while they were here was go to the Docklands with Jesse, and that isn't really a proper tourist attraction at all. But it's something I think about when I think of London- docks and lots of boats unloading foreign cargo and people, very dark and crowded, the dirty river and canals. circa 1850 I guess. It wasn't like that at all any more- it was shiny and industrial, with more office-building skyscrapers than actual docks. But I'm glad I went still.
Other than that we went to a big amazing market with all this deliciouis food- bread and cheese and cider and preserves and chocolate and fruit and vegetables and everything, and we walked across London Bridge afterward. We were going to St. Paul's, because I'd love to see the crypts, but it was pretty expensive so we opted out.
We hung out in Camden but the commune there is temporarily closed! I'm really worried. A guy came to the door when I looked in and told me they were having some trouble 'ironing out some things' but I really hope they do. The European Social Forum is this weekend and supposedly they're hosting some delagates. I'm actually pretty excited to go to some socialist rallies. It's something I really couldn't do in the states. There's not much point in being a socialist in the states, but if I lived here I'd definitely investigate the option.
Anni will be back on Thursday, with Emily Adams, and that night Lindsay and Jenna and I are going to see Le Tigre. Until then I'll be tutoring, reading my surrealism, reading about the English ruling class, and watching newsreels.
