A Barbershopper Who Knows How to Work the Crowd

Mar 22, 2007 23:59

The lead of my quartet gave a presentation at a medical convention this weekend. The presenter before him managed to crash the computer. When Dick took the stage, there was no way to project his slides. He joked for a bit about his lost luggage to stall for time, but the computer still wasn't cooperating. He taught the audience the clapping for the chorus of The Wild Rover, a song that we brought back from Ireland in 2000. He happened to have the sheet music because the quartet leads the Chorus in it at the St. Patrick's Day Party every year. This year, the party landed on the 10th and his presentation on the 17th. Such luck! By the time they got through the song and had the clapping worked out, the techs had the computer under control.

The presenter following Dick quipped that he hoped the computer didn't crash again, as he isn't as good a singer!
