Blurr cut the comm with Ironhide, and sighed. However, it wasn’t as bad as he had originally thought. He had liked Maggie, and this new male seemed all right. He also seemed to be recovering, so hopefully Blurr wouldn’t have to deal with its corpse. That and Maggie would be sad. He wouldn’t wish her that. And Ironhide had taken Lennox with

It was way too early. If the powers that be had wanted Maggie to wake up before noon voluntarily, they wouldn’t have granted her a legendary knack for programming on top of an already killer body. She had better things to do at night than sleep as long as she could remember.
But she was trying this new thing, waking during daylight hours, at Matt’s not-so-delicate suggestion. Sure it was overrated, especially with the Shack being empty no matter what time of day, but she’d stick with it a little while longer and try to get used to it for his sake. This was technically Maggie’s second attempt at a day time schedule since entering Shack life, but it was much easier to wake up and adjust back when the place was packed full of personalities and, well, structure ( ... )

Maggie might have made a mess but thankfully didn’t burn herself. It took her a moment, but she shook herself out of the initial surprise in time to utter a response. “N-no, no I’m fine. Hi! It’s just, wow, where have you been? I thought you left too.” Like the others. But they couldn’t be... “Did you bring anyone else back with you?”
Maggie wished she hadn’t let that last question slip out. It was stupid to ask, and she should’ve be happy enough to see even one of the missing mechs return. She was! She just got caught up in the moment over the possibility of there being more.

“In the back basement? Did ‘Hide know?” She might have given Blurr a dubious look at the claim that he’d been there the entire time. Still, the look vanished from Maggie’s face as she considered her backwards schedule and how preoccupied she’d been with Matt’s recovery and keeping herself from getting into too much of a state over wondering how Will and Ironhide must be doing. “You should’ve moved your things up sooner. It must have been freezing down there when the cold spell hit.”

"I don't know much about caring for humans, Maggie." His mouth twisted at admitting that, but really, what experience did he have with organics? "You may have to help me learn to be your guardian."

Maggie could forgive Ironhide for failing to mention Blurr to her since the rediscovery just happened recently. The Topkick had more important burdens to bear, and while Maggie was quite fond of Blurr, they hadn’t exactly spent enough time together to be that close.
Blurr’s frown as he looked over the spill was telling enough. It was almost as if he didn’t know what to make of it, though Maggie couldn’t imagine it being that much of a stretch from spilt energon. Only when the mech spoke did Maggie realize where the uncertainty in his expression was really coming from. Learning to be her Guardian? Hell, it left her equally confused ( ... )

He also liked that she didn't seem to hold his ignorance in this against him. "I will watch for you and Matt. I thought you saw me." In fact he was a little confused that she hadn't. He was more than three times her size, bright blue, and had been moving at a completely normal speed.
He looked a little closer at Maggie's face. "Do you have malfunctioning optics?" That would be important to know. He would have to be even more careful with her.

“Huh.” Well, it wasn’t like she was going to let it show on her face exactly where her mind went after that first comment. If Siders were here, Maggie would’ve given him a sideways look and he’d know exactly what was going on. It’d be hilarious. But no. This was a serious guardian moment with Blurr and she had to force some maturity.
Although her new guardian was making it difficult not to giggle just a bit. “No, I can see perfectly well. Even after staring at monitors in the dark for most of my working life. That might have something to do with it though. I’m on a weird schedule and I’ve been... busy with Matt and Will.” She shrugged. “Plus, the Shack? It’s a big place when you’re not built to scale. I don’t really make any more trips to the basement and wasn’t counting on you being down there.”

"I don't plan to be down there much anymore. I'm going to take the last room down there." He pointed. "It probably needs some cleaning, but that way I can be closer to you and the male in case I'm needed. Plus it's difficult to hear if anyone else should arrive from down there." He was damn tempted to call Sideswipe, wished they would just come back already. He missed his own kind.

Maggie lit up at the thought of any former Shackling returning home, even though her gut instinct told her not to get her hopes up. “Have you been in contact with anyone? Did they say they were coming back?” She’d thought about comming Siders so many times, but what was she supposed to say? “The human tech I rely on for comms is pretty weak long-range. Any distance past the Wind Turbine Facility and all I get is static...”

He really did hope they returned soon though.
Blurr picked up his bedding. "I have an idea. Do you remember that game board I was working on last summer? It's done. Once I have the room set up, I can teach you to play like I promised."
