(OOC - Been a while, this is basically just a few prompts to give everyone a window into what our four boys have been up to for the last few months. Closed post to participants. Thanks!)
G1 Sideswipe:
Siders stood at the entrance to the cave that had been their home for the last few months, watching the snow flutter down through the tree branches. After Bluestreak left them it’d been… too much. Sunstreaker had disappeared even before all that mess, and the last time anyone recalled seeing him was the night Siders’ own twin had shown up. Mirage had recovered, but was weak and still very distressed.
The argument had been messy. Lots of shouting. Lots of un-warrior-like sobbing on one another. They’d left the Shack with Siders giving only Ironhide a quiet word of notice, and saying to comm if they were really needed. Sunny was right though. They couldn’t hash this out properly there, and they’d only be torturing their friends by staying.
The past months had been… agonizing. He, Sides, and Raj were so raw, in so much pain from too many losses in too short of a time.
Gratitude sung through Siders for his twin, and a grin tugged at his lips. Sunstreaker had never been a patient mech, but he’d been the strength and stability Siders and the other two had needed for the last few months. At times simply holding, others snapping at one or all of them. Whatever was needed. He kept them there too. When one may have wandered off to get lost, Sunstreaker had applied just enough force to sit their afts back down and keep them going.
They were slowly coming around to a steady state. They’d been better lately. Sides would never be the same without his twin, but he seemed to have accepted Siders and Sunny as adoptive brothers. He wasn’t healed yet, but everyday was a micro step forward. Mirage was back up to full strength, though still mourning the disappearance of Hound, who like many it seemed, had gone back to their own world. Siders himself had made peace with losing the first mech he had ever loved besides his twin, reminded constantly by Sunny’s, Sides’, and Mirage’s presence that he was still luckier than many mechs ever got. He felt good enough to feel guilty for it, knowing those he loved were still suffering.
However, things had been brighter lately. Literally and figuratively. Winter was ending. Siders could feel it, see it with the longer daylight hours, the air less bitter cold despite the snow. They weren’t perfect, but they all smiled more. They played, they laughed. There were snowball wars, and games of hide and seek, and foot races through the trees. Simple, silly things, but when looked back on, all positive signs. They were beginning to live again, and Siders wondered if it wasn’t maybe time to head home. The Shack had never stopped being home.
The cave was another thing he was grateful for. All this drama, all this pain could be left behind in this cave and never returned to. The only concern, the only doubt, was were they ready to return? Maybe they had healed all they could here, but would they remain stable after they went home to the Shack?
Siders smiled, and leaned against Sunny’s shoulder as he stepped up next to him. ::Hey, bro,:: he said softly.
