Good science took time. Even with all the information he had Perceptor still had to move slowly, picking apart each piece of data in order to figure out exactly what he was looking for. It wasn't what Swindle had been hoping for but hopefully the con would see it as a good thing anyway.

//Swindle?\\

Swindle stopped in his tracks, taking a few moments to process the identity of the voice and then marvelling at the way the universe sometimes worked. As surely this was more than mere coincidence.

But was the scientist going to tell him something awful. That he did not want to hear? A sickening lurch went through his systems.

Yet, whatever he was calling to tell him, Swindle had to hear it, he knew that.

Activating the com, he said nervously: // Yeah - uh - Swindle here! \\

//Greetings, this is Perceptor. My apologies for my delay in getting back to you but it took some time to process all of the data I had collected. I found out something most intriguing that I think will please you.\\

Looking back over the data as he spoke, Perceptor tapped the datapad, highlighting a few images for his own reference.

//It seems as though it is very possible for you to form another bond should you desire to.\\

Had he even asked the scientist that? He had so much going on in his processor, that he could not remember. He supposed he must have. What else did he tell him? he thought, alarmed suddenly.

And hey - this wasn't necessarily good news. This was an Autobot. Whatever else may be happening in his life, Swindle had not forgotten that. And what was 'pleasing news' for the an Autobot may not necessarily be so for him!

So when he answered, his was voice still wavery: // Uh - is that so? \\

//Indeed. I was..not completely sure if it was something you were interested in but I could not help but delve a bit deeper into the concept of a gestalt bond just to see what the limitations were. Adding another bond does not seem at all like it will cause distress to your current bond...which is where the bad news comes in. Unfortunately I do not think that it is possible to separate yourself from the gestalt bond.\\

He was rambling, but that's what Perceptor did. If he was aware of anything wrong on Swindle's end, he wasn't showing it.

//But, from what I have been able to figure out, if you were to form another bond at any time during your function, it would co-exist with your current bond and, at times, somewhat overshadow the gestalt bond. It would allow for you to essentially be your own bond even though you were still connected to your gestalt mates. It really is all very fascinating. I cannot say that I expected it to be this complex and intriguing.\\

Swindle found himself taking in Perceptor's every word. he could not help but feel a 'twang' of disappointment at the first part. Yet, this was closely followed by a curious sensation of relief.

His spark started to slowly pulse in rhythmn as he took in the rest.

// So the bonds won't kinda - get mixed up?\\ he found himself asking, a note of excitement making itself heard in his vocaliser. He realised he had as good as admitted to the scientist that he did, indeed, intend forming another bond. But a sudden wave of happiness siezed him so hard that he did not care.

This time around he did catch the change in emotion but he didn't make a comment about it, merely smiled faintly to himself as he closed out the datapad, saving all of it for a later use.

//No, they will stay very much their own separate bonds that you can shift between in a sense.\\

Swindle could not help the grin which spread slowly across his faceplates. he started to walk again, feeling elated. The Universe truly did move in myseterious ways.

He could not help himself from blurting out: // Well that's great! I mean - I don't think I'll be doing much shifting .... as long as the other one stays intact .... and they can't bother me .... especially Vortex .... but it's good they'll still be there .... and that if I need it they'll still have to help me .... I do care about them ..... I just didn't want them to interfere with this ...

He stopped himself, realising he was babbling hopelessly, and had said far too much. At that moment nothing really mattered - but Swindle's basic Decepticon programming intervened enough for him to stop and say simply:

// Thanks, pal! It's uh - been really good of you to - uh .... \\

But his spark was suddenly pounding and he found himself all emotional again, and he could not finish the sentence.

He merely let the other ramble on, smile staying in place as he went about his other experiments. The sniper was unable to help the chuckle that escaped--outloud of course, he didn't want to upset Swindle in any way--as the other thanked him.

//You are most welcome, Swindle. If you are ever in need of further assistance in a scientific manner, please do not hesitant to contact me. And I wish you the best of luck with everything.\\

And he truly meant it.

Swindle

Ovewhelmed by everything, Swindle was only able to whisper again: // Thank you .... \\ before switching off the com.

He hastened on to find his lover, a sense of relief descending, followed shortly by another burst of soaring elation. He now found himself in a kind of hysterical state where the lines between deep emotion and great happiness seemed to become blurred, and much as he could not wait to see Swindle, everything in him fritzed with a new kind of nervousness.

Swindle came to a halt again as he found himself shaking, his spark pounding afresh. Intaking deeply, he leaned against the cave wall.

"Get a grip on yourself!" he said out loud. Then, with an effort, managed to calm down just enough to continue determinedly on his way.
