...and I can just see Ravage et.al trailing along disconsolately behind, possibly with a sparkling or two on their backs/in their arms as well, having been told to pick up any stragglers...
I have already written a fic where Sam with the AllSpark in him accidentally discharghes into an electrical store, giving Sparks to all the machines in it. There, the 'Bots were called by Bumblebee, who was close by.
Can you imagine same situation (or one where excess energy was used to make standard sparkling bodies if no store was around) and the 'Cons get there first?
*Mental image* Soundwave picking up Sparklings and putting them into chest compartment one after the other. Starscream puts three small ones under his canopy, then starts picking others up and putting them in his arms...and Movie!Screamer had a VERY long armspan... Blackout converting to vehicle form and getting Scorponok to run around, grab sparklings, and place them in his spacious interior...Movie-Megs festooning himself with them on his arms and shoulders and even his head...and telling Bonecrusher that he doesn't care if he hates everyone, he leaves the sparklings be..and Brawl/Devastator bringing up the rear to round up stragglers.
And one of the Constructicons (is he called Loader or Long Load or something?) the one designed to carry a load of stuff in the back, being used to carry Sparklings, and grumbling the whole time but only halfheartedly.

(Holy crap, I've read that fic too!) Oh, that would be so cool! And the Autobots would be stunned speechless on the sidelines, watching their "Bloodthirsty, Fearsome" enemies trying to gather all those sparklings.

Oh boy, oh yes I can so see that...and of course The Autobpts suspect that the 'cons have some nefarious plan for the Sparklings, rish in to rescue them and stand speechless as they see that the spearklings have got the 'cons runing rouynd safter them...Starscream and Magatron taking them up one or two at a time for a flight...Barricade setting off his lights and sirens just to keep them amused...and getting the newly arived triplechanger Tankor (can't remember his original name anyomre) to feed them all *snigger*

And Tankor is the name of a Universe deluxe triplechanger who's two alts are a plane and a fuel tanker lorry...hence Tankor. I believe in G1 a chatacter with the same alts was named Octane. A friend was kind enough to remember the original name for me...
