Author Note: Takes place during/before chapter 6 in the Five Bots series. This is to try and motivate me back into writing. It is not explicit it is to try and get me to explore these characters again and how I have moved them through the story. You do not need to have read the series FIVE BOTS to understand this story. It is recommended that you do but not required.
“I love you.” “I know”
Ironhide observed from the corner of the room as the figure watched the large screen in front of them. Star Wars had always been Will’s favorite movie, since the technicians who had worked on recalibrating his memory didn’t know those small details Ironhide had suggested Will watch the trilogy and see if he remembers it. He could hardly comprehend how Will had come back to life, no matter how many times Ratchet told him the reasons. Ironhide didn’t know if the man he had once loved was still within the human-metallic body that sat stone still in the room absorbing the movie. He had seen Will watch the movie before, he had always laughed and quoted many of his favorite lines, especially those of Obi-wan Kenobi the character he decided to dress as at the party where he had met his wife.
However this new Will had hardly moved since he had sat down, Ironhide had watched him blink maybe once throughout the entire movie, he believed it had been during the Darth Vader and Luke fight scene. As the credits scrolled up the screen Will moved and Ironhide brought himself out of his brooding long enough to turn up the lights.
“Did I enjoy that movie once?” Will asked in monotone.
“Yes.” If Ironhide had a heart it would have fallen.
“I remember...” Will said looking past Ironhide’s large mech body to the projection station. “I would like to watch some clips of Annabelle.”
Ironhide hesitated, all the clips he knew had him in them and he had agreed with Ratchet that he should not play a deeper role then guide to Will’s memories. That meant never using his hologram in front of Will or showing him any pictures or clips. Ironhide understood that the only reason Will had come back to life was to be used as a weapon for defense, a secret weapon that not even the general public of the United States knew was being made. Ironhide however hid his emotions, reminding himself that he also was a weapon built to fight and defend a planet that had fallen, and he had failed his pledge to Sarah to protect the Lennox family. He owed Will, he would show him his daughter if only on the screen.
Ironhide felt himself connect with the projector he chose a particular clip that would relate to the movie Will had just watched. The lights dimmed and Will sat back down however this time he sat closer to Ironhide. As the clips began Ironhide felt himself regret his agreement to not tell Will about their true relationship.
Suddenly the lights went up and the projector stopped. Ironhide turned to the door which was opening. A man in a tight business suit looked past him and towards Will. “I am sorry Sir but you are not allowed to watch those.”
“I wish to see my daughter.” Will voice held more emotion then Ironhide had heard since Will had come back. He looked back at Will in surprise.
“I am sorry sir it is too dangerous.”
“Bullshit...Since you will not allow me to see her this is the only way I can truly watch her grow-up. You can not deny a father to see his daughter.”
“Mr. Lennox you are officially dead, the government does not acknowledge that you have come back to life which means we can not allow your daughter to see a ghost.” The man had not flinched at the increasing anger in Will’s voice.
“I am alive and kicking, I will not do the dirty work of you cowards unless you allow me to see my daughter.” Will yelled, walking up to the man at the door, hands fisted.
Ironhide immediately created his hologram and stepped in front of Will. Ironhide knew if Will got to the man he would not be able to control his new body and Will would do something he would regret. “Don’t Will, calm down.” Ironhide said holding Will still with one hand. His mech body shook with the touch, he had missed Will’s body so much.
“NBE-3 you are not permitted to use your projection, please turn it off. I am capable of protecting myself.” The man said stiffly he held what looked like a large taser in his right hand.
Will was not concentrating on the man at the door anymore he was staring at Ironhide’s human body, openly. Ironhide immediately stepped back away from Will so they were not touching anymore, his hand stung, and his heart begged from him to return it to where it had been. Ironhide shivered against his better judgment his body was reacting to Will’s open stare. He reluctantly turned off the projection just before Will was about to reach out and touch him.
“Mr. Lennox if you would follow me there are some men who would like to talk to you about the service you owe this government.” The man said not immediately putting away the taser gun.
Will didn’t move for a few seconds, however he didn’t look back at Ironhide either. He squared his shoulders and slowly walked out following the man into the hallway that Ironhide could not fit into. Ironhide suddenly regretted agreeing to be the Autobot to help Will regain his memories, his heart would never forgive him for watching Will walk away.
-+Three Hours Later+-
Ironhide was trying to rest, though he had hardly had the chance in the last 10 years while taking care of Annabelle it seems that being Will’s guide has him waiting around more then doing anything. His mech body felt stiff, he realized he hadn’t transformed into his truck-form in a long time, since he had arrived at the private base where Will had been brought back to life. He decided to go for a ride and transformed.
He drove through the barracks trying to be as quiet as possible, he had been ordered not to leave the base, however there wasn’t enough open space to allow him to drive like he wanted to. As he was coming towards the gate he paused, he had heard a familiar heartbeat, one that he would never forget. He turned his optics so that he was looking out the right side of his form. There was Will in non-descript cotton sleep wear.
“Who are you?” Will asked coming up to Ironhide he put his hands out but didn’t quite touch. Ironhide wanted to lean into his hands but he resisted trying to register the question and how to answer.
“I am your friend, an Autobot, and someone who has taken care of your daughter since you died ten years ago.” Ironhide answered trying not to go too deeply into his relationship with the Lennox family.
“You were just my friend?” Will asked sadly as he pulled his hands back.
“Yes,” Ironhide wanted to say more but he stopped himself.
“I had a dream...” Will too quiet to be heard except by Ironhide. Will brought his hand back up and placed his hand directly above Ironhide’s right tire. Ironhide could not suppress a shiver as Will’s hand slowly moved along his frame. “Tell me the truth Ironhide.”
Ironhide tried to keep himself from feeling anything, he tried to remember his promise to Prime about not revealing anything about Will’s past relationships. Prime and Ratchet had explained that they had to make a deal with the US government. Prime would only agree to help the government research on their exoskeleton metal if they agreed to help Will, they would only agree to bring Will back to life if he would be a weapon to be used against their enemy. Prime and Ratchet did the best they could to convince the researchers that Will would not be very useful if he didn’t have a conscience so they had allowed him to have his memories of his past life but only those that they believed made him the solider that he had been at Mission City.
However their was something wrong about keeping the truth from Will, no matter how hard he tried to rationalize keeping his orders from Prime, he couldn’t lie to Will. Ironhide decided to go the direct root. He formed his hologram only wearing low hanging pants. Will turned and looked at him in surprise his eyes quickly changed and lust formed almost immediately as he unconsciously like his lips. Ironhide pressed Will against his truck form immediately pressing his lips against Will’s.
Will didn’t protest, he didn’t fight the electrically charged hologram pressing into his metallic-human body. He slowly began to realize that his body was moving by memory of motions and movements done a thousand times before. One hand fisted into the dark hair of the hologram allowing his hands to be tickled by the small electric shocks his other hand pulling, scratching, rubbing against the outside of the truck. His legs parted so that the hologram could fit perfectly against him and so that his back and ass was flush against the vibrating Autobot.
Will remembered everything, his feelings and emotions for the Autobot who had done so much for his daughter in the last ten years that he was dead. The kiss deepened and the hands instinctively moved lower down the bodies. Though neither truly needed to breath it was instinctive and the lips parted only centimeters apart. Ironhide kissed along Will’s jaw line and down against his neck. Will sucked in his breath as more memories flooded his circuits and brain, he now remembered everything before he died. Those memories that had molded him into a courageous and lawful solider for the US Military and the man who had loved an Autobot weapon specialist. He wanted to tell Ironhide what he had done, that he had his memory back, that he felt whole again finally a person, completely human. However the only thing he were able to say was “I knew I loved you before I died.”
