I'm considering moving back home at some point. To give a Coles Notes summary, there's some stuff going on with my dad over the next year that I feel kind of guilty that I'm not here for (I don't want to get into it on the Internet), plus I'm going to be an aunt in May and my cousin is having a baby in June. I get cooped up on this damn island a lot. I've moved away from home twice now, once to the mainland.

My family never gave me grief outwardly very often, but when they did it was usually when things went wrong. As in "Well.. I know it's tough, but it was your choice to move there."

Fact is, bad things happen in life wherever you are. If the mainland is a bigger place and gives you more options and freedom and career and education options and travel options and all kinds of great things, go be there! I may end up there myself this year.

This island is fantastic and I love it to death, but I don't want to live every day of my life here.

I think that nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes - I'm 28 and not quite on a career path yet either. Your parents should know that where you are living has no effect on your choices, or outcomes, or decisions, or how things go for you, or anything like that. You are you - the city you're in is just a backdrop. So why not choose good, wide open fantastic backdrops that give you a great chance at happiness and a good life? Keep at it.
