Cool wedded bliss

Egads! It's been awhile since I've checked in.

I suppose I've just been busy. New York was a terribly good time. The wedding was beautiful, and we had a great time. Graham and I went on a fabulous date our first night there, dining at Les Halles, and then walking from 29th to 67th, mostly on Broadway. The bride's mom hosted a Mehndi party on Saturday, and I still have remnants of the henna dye on my hands. The rehersal dinner was on the 40th floor of World Trade Center 7, and we got an amazing view of the fireworks. The wedding itself was in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens with a dual Hindu and Jewish ceremony, and everyone looked absolutely beautiful. Drinks, dancing, and dinner followed, and it's possible, though, that I may have gotten overserved... Graham MCed and DJed the wedding, and everyone thought he did a great job.

We returned to a home to a $400 electric bill, and I made the call that I've been putting off since I moved into my house. I started looking for bids for a new air conditioner. This summer has been particularly brutal, and we have at least three more months of high temperatures. The unit runs full time, and the house barely cools down. So, for the past few days, we've been letting people crawl around our attic and back yard to tell us how much they'll replace our 20 year old compressor for. We have one more contractor to go, and then we'll make a decision. Part of me is dreading this, as it's not going to be cheap. Part of me is terribly looking forward to it, as the energy consumption in my house during the summer has been awful since I bought the place seven years ago.
