I took off early today so I could take Celsoa to the vet. She's doing well, and everyone there loved her. She's 6.3 pounds now, and she got some vaccinations and some medications. There was a little bit of a hiccup in that we forgot to grab all of her information from the breeder when we went to the vet, but Graham went back to the house to get it.
The front desk people, the vet tech, and the vet all thought she was just precious.
When we got home, Graham took her straight to the back yard because she hadn't peed in awhile. I had some time to kill and noticed that one of the rose bushes needed a little pruning, so I stayed with the puppy outside for a bit, and Graham came inside to get some work done. Crianza and Athena had come outside too, but after saying hi to Crianza I didn't really notice them much.
About two or three minutes into the rose pruning, I noticed that Crianza was stalking Celosa. Pulik do this when they're playing. They try to taunt the other one into attacking back. And then, suddenly, It. Was. On. Puppy running. Adult running. Barking on both sides. Puppies crouched down on their bellies with their butts in the air. Mad dash races from the rose bush to the scooter to the stump to the lawn chair to me. Barking at the tops of their relative voices (one of them doesn't have a very loud voice yet). Puppy and adult turning on a dime, seemingly in mid air. Tails wagging madly. No one was scared and no one came to me for assurance or safety. I was sitting in the middle of the lawn, and they'd occasionally use me as a shield, but no one needed protection. This lasted for about twenty minutes, and they made such a ruckus that Graham had to come outside to see what was going on. It was awesome.
Crianza has been very wary of the puppy until now, but this was pure play. Celosa has wanted to play with Crianza, but she wasn't sure how to get her to do it. That problem has been solved. Celosa is totally passed out now on the sheepskin rug that she's claimed as her own, and Crianza has stayed pretty close to the puppy during this nap.
I explained to Graham that if he thought that was adorable to watch, wait until Zapata gets into the mix. And then, this summer, when Chicken AND Zapata are in the mix.
I knew that eventually they'd all start playing and we'd be over having to worry about what Crianza thought about all of this, but I'm so happy it happened so quickly. And I'm overjoyed that I got to see it happen.
