'stina's seven

There's another seven things meme going around a few places. I've done so many of these it gets hard to relate something that I haven't babbled about already in the last six years. But I'll try.

1.) I call Athena "Fraulein Feline" on a semi-regular basis. I also generally speak of "The Cat" instead of using her full name when talking about her. She seems to be ok with these forms of address.

2.) I once considered math to be my best subject. Unfortunately, I advanced beyond what they could teach in eighth grade and they handed four of us algebra books and told us to teach ourselves without much in the way of guidance. The next year, I was waaaaaay behind all the other algebra 2 kids in my high school and I lost all confidence in my mad math skilz.

3.) I've never been south of Mexico. I feel really bad about this, because I somehow feel that I should have experienced more of latin America, but I just haven't made it down there. Hell, it's been over 15 years since I've been to Mexico.

4.) My living grandmother probably is at the beginning stages of Alzheimers. I don't talk about her much, because I don't really think about her much. She's always been a far away person with a far away life, and she's somewhat of a difficult woman to get along with when she's nearby. I last saw her in 2003, when she came to New Mexico with me and my mom. My mother nearly killed her. She lives with my uncle outside of Philadelphia.

5.) I had this weird sort of athlete's foot on my heel for about five years when I was in college and law school. I tried everything to get rid of it, but it just seemed not to want to go away. It flared up mostly when I wore boots or other constricting shoes, so I sort of stayed away from those. After a few years, it went away seemingly on its own and I haven't seen it again.

6.) I sometimes have issues getting transexuals. I'm never rude, and I generally accept that some people aren't as they should be, but I have a wierd bias that I can't get past. I generally don't have that same bias towards cross dressers or transvestites, but there's a line over which my understanding just sort of fades away. I'm working on overcoming this bias, and it bothers me that I'm sort of uncomfortable with the concept, though generally not the individuals. Mostly.

7.) I'm still somewhat surprised that people actually like me. This stems back from junior high when no one did like me. It startles me when someone thinks I'm cool or seeks out my approval/attention.
