Liv is irritated with convention. She says that old convention based on obsolete typewriters dictates that double spacing after periods is obsolete and should be done away with, because fonts are proportional now and the double spacing is unnecessary. She has all sorts of citations to back her up on this. Her boss disagrees. She bitched to me, and I sort of backed her boss up because a) I type with the double space and b) it's still the convention in legal circles, even with proportional fonts.
I fear, though, that this may be a sign that I'm getting old, and what I learned in the 80s may not necessarily be applicable any longer.
So I ask you all:
Poll typing poll ETA:
liv: hehe.
but you didn't inform them of the citations!
they'll likely agree with you because they are older than 20
most likely anyway
'stina: i did!!
see in the top paragraph, I told them that you had all sorts of citations to back you up ont his
liv: but you didn't cite them!
that's ok
'stina: ok, i can edit
liv: no, it's okay, i can post something
The citations that Liv found from a two minute search to prove to me that she was right and I am wrong were:

and
http://www.getitwriteonline.com/archive/011803.htm I also found this one on my own:
http://www.webword.com/reports/period.html I note that Liv did much more comprehensive research on the subject earlier and appears to be more or less right on this. I also note that she's only five years younger than me.
