For Claudia

Apr 10, 2007 12:11

The Mixed Media series that Claudia's been throwing with Starbucks at the MFAH has been an unbeliveable success. This weekend, they're toning it down a little for a more intimate (but equally cool) experience in conjunction with the Met Show. For those of ya'll who don't know, the entire French Masterpiece collection from the Metropolitan Museum of Art is on display at the MFAH until May 5. The Met is undergoing renovations, and this is the first time that the collection has been displayed together in a modernly lit museum. It's pretty unbelievable, and it's the only place in the United States that the collection will be on view until the collection goes back home.

So Claudia thought it would be appropriate for the Museum to host a salon. Starbucks Presents A Salon Series at the MFAH

This Saturday night, in celebration of the Museum of Fine Art, Houston´s exhibition "The Masterpieces of French Painting from The Metropolitan Museum of Art: 1800 - 1920", Starbucks Coffee Company transforms the Audrey Jones Beck Building of the MFAH into a French Salon.

Outdoor seating, live performances by Two Star Symphony, silent French films by Georges Méliès, and free form street performances, convert the porte cochere into a French café. DJ Sun saturates the mezzanine level with the sounds of Paris, while a rotating schedule of intimate performances and readings in and out of the galleries amplifies your viewing experience.

With additional performances by:
Tenor Christian Guajardo
Poet Lacy Johnson
Author David MacLean and more.

Tickets:
$25 General Admission
$15 Students
