Farmer's market day, hit 2 of the local ones in Merriam and OP. What a crowd! Before I left, I watered and picked my own tomato crop - a couple of Dona and Carmelo fruits had good color - a few more days in the shade on the porch and they'll be ready. I've learned not to leave these semi-ripe fruits on the vine, they tend to crack or get attacked by vermin. Better to let them ripen to the picking point, then put them in shade w/lots of room around them to finish ripening.
I have 3 nice ones ready to go into a calabrese salad today, so I wanted to buy basil. I usually buy Thai basil from the nearby Siamese grocery store, but the weather was so nice I wanted to hit the outdoor markets. I was shocked at how crowded they were! It's ok for great minds to think alike, but they need to make room for Daddy.
I didn't see any herbs at Merriam so went to OP. There I found some basil and got a vidalia onion to go with, and stopped at the local Panera bakery for a fresh baguette on the way home. I've got our new local Pilsner in the fridge, and a bottle of rose' chilled as well. As my beloved Ex used to say, "Yeah man!"
