I get knocked down but I get up again...

I'm so depressed. I'm watching last night's Origin match now, but I already know the fallout. Some Blues fan blurted it out on the train last night. I was on my way home from work, they were on their way home from the game. I was so pleased that I'd made it through my shift (just down from Sports Central, opposite NRL HQ, just up from two pubs) without spoiling who'd won the game and some toss pot on the train is to blame *shakes my head* The Maroons lost and so have lost the series. My boys...Webby, Dane, Locky...I'm just shattered.

In the middle of such a good season, when all teams are playing such good footy. Where picking the finals teams, let alone who's going to take out the premiership is a task in itself, an orgin series was looming that was going to rewrite history. That was going to go down to the wire and be one of the best of the best. Back at one of the best grounds in the NRL, Lang Park (Suncorp Stadium if you're a yuppie). But it just wasn't to be. Seventy minutes of Game 1 had all the attributes of the season so far. Heart in your mouth, physical stuff that just made your stomach churn. People have said that of the sixty seven Origin games played, it was the best so far and I would agree...until NSW killed Queensland in the last ten minutes and the final scoreline was not at all refelctive of the game.

Game 2 was Queensland's chance to get even, to settle the score. No such luck. Dropped ball, sloppy football, just a shocking display from the visitors who didn't look like they'd turned up to play at all. And now we move onto Game 3. It's pointless. I don't care what anyone says about playing for pride - the series has gone, it's over. NSW were victorious and even if Queensland taste sweet victory the final match, it'll be soured by the fact they don't take home the shield.

I'm going to the Plaza today...try and find some more BLACK for my increasing work wardrobe...

OK, didn't end up going to the Plaza...I went to Hurstville, instead. But I did score big time. I got two pairs of black pants, two black shirts and two pairs of cargoes as far as the clothes go. Picked up John Mayer's new single - Why Georgia - which has been delayed forever. Also got BB Mak's first album - Sooner Or Later, which I've been chasing for awhile now. Started my Buffy collection with the first season on VHS. It was only thirty dollars, so I thought why not, even though I'll probably get it on DVD later.
