202: Is life a game?

Nov 03, 2007 10:59

If life’s a game, who do you think is winning?

Well. Now isn’t that a difficult question? A year ago, I wouldn’t have hesitated. I’d have said straight off that I was winning. I had all I’d ever wanted: a wonderful husband, two beautiful kids, the handsomest little Pomeranian in the world… I was exactly where I wanted to be. And then… then it all fell apart. Almost everything Noah had ever told me was a lie. His job, our daughter, everything. For what felt like a long, long time, I couldn’t figure out what was real. I was lost. But then I realized something: the love was real, and always had been. His love for me, his love for the kids… he’d done it all just to protect us. And he’d keep on doing it, no matter what. But this time, I’d be at his side. A full partner, helping all that I could. No more secrets. Are we going to win? God knows. But at least I know what the game is, now.
