Save tonight, fight the break of dawn

Tonight was an unexpectedly good night. I had texted Kate playfully asking what her New Year's plans were, and in response I got a text asking if I wanted to go to IHOP with her. Well, as anyone who might be reading this must know, the answer was obviously, "Sure!" But then I got a text not too long after heading out mentioning an accident or something by the Pizza Man, making reaching IHOP from her locale unfeasible in a reasonable fashion, and then she decided pancakes weren't really nutritional enough for her at all. So I suggested she let me treat her out to something anyway, and she was all for my suggestion that we do Japanese.

We went to the Tokyo Steakhouse in Nashua, seated between two large families. I had the most karmic moment of my entire life (good deeds do not generally yield preferable rewards): I had given Kate the orange/cherry/umbrella combo from my plum wine saki thing, of which the server took notice and decided to give me a brand new one for giving her mine. Thanks, guy! Dinner was fun, as Japanese steakhouses tend to be quite fun experiences, and we had some nice discussions despite my ineptitude in that area. It was just really nice. I did the thing where I paid for dinner, because I'm a man, goddammit! Or something like that, I dunno... I wanted to anyway.

On the way back to Merrimack we sang/screamed some Tom Petty and the Pixies, among others. Then she asked to play some music, suggesting going back to my house. There is a dream version of the next part, but I'll spare you and just go with what actually happened. We just played and recorded ourselves playing our songs, and developed plans for an acoustic cover album and an original full ensemble album of her songs. I don't know if we'll finish anything before she leaves for Guyana on the 29th next month, but I'll sure try.

I didn't mention the whole "I'm totally completely into you right now and thanks for inspiring some of those songs I played tonight and put on a CD for you because you liked them" part. I really should. A magic 8 ball told me it was a good idea. I've been told not to doubt the veracity of the 8 ball's clairvoyance.

Well, whatever. It was a really good night. I didn't expect how it ended up, but it was definitely most welcome. It was everything I've needed from her.

On another note, I think starting next year all my subjects will have meaningful titles dealing with entry content. I've looked back on my entries and can't find a damn thing without sifting through everything. Oops.

Good night, world.
