Chapter Seven
Kame answered the phone call. “Hey.” He said with a smile. “I thought your play wont end until 11pm?”
“I guessed wrong.” Taichi Saotome answered with a grin. “I forgot that they moved back the opening time so… I got out of work early.” The younger man said. “Are the twins still up? How do you like the idea of having a late dinner with me?”
Kame sighed. “Sorry Tai-chan, I sent the kids to bed already. Are you free tomorrow?”
“I should be. Why, are you inviting me to a date?” Taichi said in a teasing tone.
“I am.” Kame answered with a grin. “A family date.”
“Damn!” Taichi cursed. “And I thought I’ll be getting you along too!” the younger man joked. He loves the twins dearly and the twins adore him too, but he and Kame can’t do… what adults do on their free time with the twins by their side.
And adult things, meaning drinking and clubbing. He likes Kame like an older brother, you see.
Kame laughed. “Aww… poor Tai-chan. You weren’t thinking you’d get me alone, are you?”
“Mou~” Tai replied. “You’ve been busy these past few weeks!”
“I was, but my schedule cleared up for the next two weeks.” Kame shared. “The dubbing of the new season for Sakende Yaruze won’t start until two weeks from now.”
“Good. Because you’ve been neglecting the kids far too long. I’m free tomorrow. Where do you plan on going?”
“Well… I sort of bribed the kids to watch a movie tomorrow. Is that okay with you?”
“Cool. What time?”
“After lunch.” Kame replied.
“Why not make it before lunch? I’ll go to your home and eat your home cooked lunch.” Taichi offered. “Then after, we’ll head to the movies. Damn, I miss having you guys as my next-door neighbors.” Taichi said silently.
“But, Tai-chan, we’re not home.” Kame worriedly said.
“Oh… you’re at…?” Taichi is the only one who knows that Kame and the twins visit Kame/Jin’s home occasionally. “Then… I’ll just head there then.”
“You can’t…” Kame whispered. A small whimper escaped from his throat, which he blamed the cold.
“Why?” Taichi frowned suspiciously. “Wait, are you crying?”
“I’m not.” Kame denied. “It’s just the cold.”
“Okay… I… don’t want to see you crying again.” Taichi’s muffled tone stated.
“Don’t worry, I’m really not.” Kame smiled, remembering the first time he met Taichi Saotome.
~flash back~
Once Kame, Tohru and Kenji were back from the supermarket, the twins took their leave, not before thanking Kame profusely for the sugar… and toys Kame bought for them.
Kame smiled and ruffled their hairs. “When you need something just come over and play, okay?”
“But, don’t you have work?” Tohru asked.
“I work from home now.” Kame stated. “Now go home!” he shooed the kids away. “Your mom might be back home already.”
“See later, ojiichan!” Kenji said while Tohru waived his right hand.
Kame closed the door to his unit and immediately went to the veranda for fresh air. He saw a plane pass by and remembered Jin.
“Be safe and sound.” He softly whispered, letting the soft wind carry out his wish to Jin. “And come back soon before everybody misses you.” He never did notice the trail of teardrops falling from his eyes.
Kame was standing there for God knows how long already. Next thing he knew, it was already night… and the feeling of being watched made Kame’s skin crawl.
Kame spared a glance to his left where the feeling of being stared at was coming from. He saw a beautiful woman wearing a very expensive kimono.
“Ano…” the woman softly started. “I’ve been calling you for a while now… I was worried. Are you… okay?” from the little gap between their verandas, she tried to hand Kame her handkerchief.
Kame shyly/embarrassedly took the hankie to wipe his tears. “Yeah, I’m okay. Just got a little dirt on my eyes.” He said as an excuse.
“Are… you sure?”
Kame smiled softly. “I am. I’m new here by the way. My name is Kamenashi.”
“I know. Kamenashi Kazuya-kun, right?”
“How did… you know?” Kame asked.
“I know you. I watched Gokusen 2.”
Kame grinned. “I don’t believe you have me your name yet.”
“Saotome Taichi.”
“Tai…chi?” Kame’s eyes widened. ‘This beautiful girl’s name is Taichi?’ he thought. “Uh… not to be rude or anything… an okama-chan?”
Taichi laughed. “No but if you’re wondering why I’m wearing a kimono - that’s because I’m an actor for kabuki plays.”
“Ah… sou ka?”
“Tegoshi Yuya is your kouhai, right?”
“You know Tegoshi too?”
“Yes. I worked with him in Shabake.”
“Oh! So you’re the Tai-chan Massu’s been jealous of.” Kame concluded.
“I guess so… not unless there’s another Taichi Yu-chan knows?”
“Well… there is - a senpai of ours. But I thought I was weird that Tego-nyan was referring to him as Tai-chan.”
“Ah, right! I forgot! Kokubun Taichi, right?” Taichi laughed with his right hand covering his mouth. “Gomen, I’m kind of a JE otaku.”
Kame smirked. “I don’t mind. So who’s your favorite then?”
“Kimura Takuya-kun.” Taichi answered. “Isn’t he the person younger boys idolize?”
Kame laughed freely “You’re right about that!” he frowned at Taichi. “If you like him, why didn’t you join Johnny’s then? That’s a weird pattern you have there, kid! Most boys would join in a heartbeat just to see SMAP-san.”
Taichi shook his head. “No, I couldn’t even if I wanted to - my family’s old fashioned. We follow the old ways and traditions.”
“Oh, that’s still great!” Kame stared in shock at Taichi upon remembering one news he was able to watch. “You’re the TAICHI SAOTOME, the genius boy who could play any female role!” He frowned a bit. “I think you were able to see Kimura-kun in person!”
Taichi blushed. “Yeah, I was able to see him up close in one show.”
“And he seemed rather smitten at you!” Kame chuckled, remembering his senpai’s delighted face when he met Taichi.
“Good, you’re not depressed anymore, are you?” Taichi inquired, seeing Kame’s smile finally reaching his eyes.
“Huh? But I wasn’t!” Kame protested his sadness over Jin’s departure totally gone now.
“Right, you’re not.” Taichi smiled nonetheless. “I better get going. My manager will be here any moment now. I’ll talk to you again, Kamenashi-kun.” He bowed timidly.
“Sure.” Kame waved both his hands. “Take care on your way to the theater.”
“Will certainly do.” Taichi once again bowed politely at Kame and entered his unit.
Kame sighed and decided to retire early to bed.

A/N: Hahaha. You may hate me for inserting random people here but I really really really love Taichi~ I wish I could watch him perform on stage. I would buy DVDs of his plays, if there are any, but I wouldn’t be able to understand it anyways so I shouldn’t. *sigh*
Sakende Yaruze is a yaoi manga I love~ XD thinking that Kame would be the one voicing Shino *melts into a pile of goo* somehow, that role really fits him. XD but that’s just me so yeah *grins* damn, there was this plot bunny I have for an Akame fic about them as yaoi voice actors~~ but yeah, it disappeared. Maybe in the future I would be able to write it.
There! I shall head to bed and sleep the rest of the day and night off!
