I cannot believe I forgot to mention this!!!! About two weeks ago Lily and I had come home from being outside playing for several hours and the Fatman was acting weird. He was fine before we left, but when we got home he was howling louder and more than usual and for no reason. He was in pain and being weird. So later that night we decided to take him to the pet ER. It was a good thing that we did because they said that if we hadnt he would have surely died within 24-48 hours. His urethra was totally blocked so he couldnt urinate. So he had to have a procedure done to unblock it, and clean out his system. He had to stay there for two days and nights. Last year he had like 6 UTI's which is caused from the same thing that cause this. It was a VERY expensive visit, and now he has to be on prescription cat food for life which also isnt cheap. It is amazing how much someone can love a pet to be able to rearrange all their finances to be able to keep their pet from having to be put to sleep. He is without a doubt unofficially our 2nd kid. It sucks that you end up being so attached to animals like that since their lifespan is considerably sorter than peoples are. I have had to suffer the pain of losing several cats already that I loved as much as I loved anything else at the age of 6 and 10. They were my best friends. But even though losing pets is so very painful, it will probably never stop me from taking another cat into my home when I have to say goodbye to the ones I have now. I wish I had a bigger house, so that I can could take more cats into my home. I would love to be able to help foster cats who were rescued from battered homes, or left without a home for some reason or another. I think Kevin is right..... I am gonna end up being like The Cat Lady on the Simpsons.
